It's nothing more than XP rings nothing else. those that wish to roleplay whatever they want is up to them.

Yep, that'll work alright. Even we Daedra could use them on our characters.

Not exactly. You only get the XP when you're grouped with the person you take the Pledge of Mara with, and the pledge is permanent -- can't be undone. What you get in the game isn't actually the ring but the Pledge, which you can use to go through a little ceremony which results in you getting the rings.

But yeah, not only can you Mara someone of the same six, you can apparently do it with multiple people, although the XP boost won't stack. So it's not exactly "traditional marriage"

Actually it IS a ring. You get a pledge scroll that you use with another person. After that, you each get rings that you equip in order to get the xp bonus.
