also one request don't say R.I.P Construction Set unless you have evidence or proof of it because it is misleading

I don't get why people are jumping to the conclusion that a new engine means the death of modding and the Construction Set. The Construction Set is the tool used to actually make the game and Bethesda is kind enough to make it available to us for modding purposes. There is no evidence that would suggest that they're not going to make the Skyrim Construction Set available, and since Bethesda had always been supportive of the modding community I have every reason to believe that it will be made available.

Oblivion's engine was new. Morrowind had a Construction Set, as did Oblivion. I have no worries that Bethesda will forget about it's modding community. Especially when Fallout 3 for the PC received so much negative feedback when modders found out that there actually wasn't a Construction Set. It even caused Bethesda to release one.

Short question: how do you think the developers create this game?

Short answer: with a Construction Set

Gnomes will sneak in during the night and make it for them the day before release.

Got a link? The only press release on Bethesda's site is the Skyrim announcement.

The only official statement on the engine is on Twitter, and all it says is that it's new.

There's another Twitter statement that says that the engine has been internally developed by the studio.

The devs popped into one of the first threads here and stated that the engine was new, in house developed, and awesome. That's also "official."

People don't understand that the CS isn't just a tool they give the players; the devs actually use the CS themselves the make the game. If they're making the game, they have a CS. All they have to do is slap it on a disk and put it in with the game. It is literally that simple.

I'm going to guess that they have to recompile and/ or disable any middleware or other features that they cannot distribute in a free tool.; but otherwise that sounds right (as far as I'd know anyway :P)

There will be a construction set, dude, don't worry. After all, the construction set is what they use to make the game.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I can't understand why they would turn down something which is perhaps one of the most popular modding kits? That would just be a flat out stupid decision.

Bethesda has announced bran new technology, and a new engine...

Does this mean we will have to say Adios to our faithful friend that kept Oblivion alive for 4 years?

Will they improve the engine - Or replace it?

Morrowind had an construction set and when Oblivion was developed they built a brand new engine for it . . . . and Oblivion still had an editor.

I don't see any reason to believe that TES V having a brand new engine means it won't have an editor.

At this point the conversation is just going in circles so I think it's time to give this a rest until Bethesda has definitely said that TES V will or will not have an editor.

(With FO3 Bethesda didn't confirm an editor until after the game had been released, before that they told us they'd look in to it after developement was over.)
