RIP Richard Hatch (Apollo).
I loved the original series. I did not like the reboot that much. I wished he had a chance to do his own continuation of the series.
He actually tried to revive the series at one point I think.
Found it on wikipedia:

Yes I knew about that. I wish he had the chance to do that instead of the reboot since I found the reboot to be awful. The only thing I liked in the reboot was Richard Hatch and Edward James Olmos.
I remember those old Battlestar Galatica shows, sad to hear Apollo go.
Didn't realize there was a 2nd Richard Hatch that was also well known. Saw the title of this thread and was like "Wth, the original winner of survivor died? How in the world did that happen".
I didn't even watch the original BSG, but he impressed me in the second one. One of my favorite characters.
I suggest to take a look at them. They are not like the reboot. Stay away from Battlestar Galactica 1980 that was quite bad.
While it aired the "Battlestar Galactica" reboot was the best thing on Television.
Like many who'd grown up with the original series watching it as it originally aired I hated anything and everything to do with this reboot.
But watching it 2 things struck me.
First it was actually amazing.
Secondly... it was the same show.
Before Disney found success with re-writing "A New Hope" for "The Force Awakens" these guys did it with "Battlestar Galactica" as a series.
Richard Hatch was great in both series and he was great to fans.
We get old, we die. He'll be missed.
