Frank McGran had a hard time trying to get into Megaton, being that he, in fact, a Super Mutant. He had to give his Super Sledge to the Brother Hood of Steel guards just so they would allow him to enter, including half of his caps he was carrying. Frank is used to the bigotry, it was justified by what his 'kind' done to humans in the past, and being more than 150 years old helped him to understand that. He, unlike the majority of Super Mutants, kept his humanity and intelligence after being injected by the 'green stuff', but that did not help him from the constant attacks in the Wastelands by Brother Hood of Steel patrols, forcing Frank to hide majority of the time, mainly in the middle of the D.C ruins. Lucky, being that he was a doctor before he was a mutant, he was able to survive with minimal dependency of StimPacks.
However, as he was listening to the radio in his fortified office building, he heard the call of the Roamers, and thought of paradise, where he might just be accepted if he were to help out...
He saw the whole commotion with the small group of drifters, then saw them heading toward a home, the owner claiming to be the leader of the Roamers. He carefully opened the door, hearing the conversation inside, only making out parts of it, peeked inside, and then, slowly, tried to get in, and saying "Ahem.. Greetings?.." and gave a feeble wave to the small group.
