"Robco" correct pronunciation?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:07 am

Didnt quiet no where to put this, anyway me and a friend had alittle disagreement on how to pronounce "Robco".
So is it pronounced Rob-co as in the name Rob or how i say it as Robe-co like how you say ro-bot or robe.
I have been playing the games years and thats how i say it.
Sad arguement i know but hey interesting none the less.
Surely the correct way is "Robe-co" as the company stands "for Robot-Company".

Rob-Co. At least, according to Elijah, in-game.

If the tour guide at the REPCONN headquarters is to be believed (and there's no reason it shouldn't be), it's Rob-co.

It's a play on the fact that Robert House is the founder of RobCo, as well as the fact they make robots.Mr. House isn't the least arrogant fella in the wasteland, and was likely making up for the fact that his brother stole ownership of H&H Tools.

Robert's Company. Rob's Company. RobCo.

Robot Company. RobCo. Get it? Rob stands for both Ro-bot and Rob-ert, hence the pronunciation.

And the funniest part is when he crushed Anthony House and purchased H&H Tools and added it to the RobCo line.

I felt bad for Anthony in the end. He was an uneducated and greedy fool, yes, but he was also very reliant on his father. I think it was his dependency on his father, and the shock of his father dying, that caused him to disenfranchise Robert, like he did. Later on, he starts to go looney without his father's restraint or advice, which I think adds some weight to the theory. He 'cracked' when his father died, and took it out on his half-brother. The meteoric rise of Robert and his subsequent, aggressive hostile take-over of H&H Tools afterwards likely didn't help.

Actually, if memory serves, Anthony stole Robert's fortune because he was Anthony's HALF-Brother.

@Mr. Doom- I'm sure Robert took control of H&H Tools at some point before the War, notice the Securitron's television plate says 'H&H Tools' on it.

Yeah, but I think it can be linked to his paranoid psycopathy, triggered by the traumatic event of his father's death.

Yeah, I know about the H&H logo on the securitron. I'm just going by the terminals and info in H&H tools. Anthony was becoming increasingly paranoid, Robert was making powerful advances on 'his' company. However he was still there and still in charge. How else would he fire all of the employees, set up the robots into their defensive positions and create all the traps?

Just doesn't make sense to me..

If I understand House's timeline, Robert was just a little child, so who'd stop Anthony when he stole Robert's inheritance? Yes, it is sad that Anthony's sanity went the way of the dodo, but the fact of the matter is, he took his brothers inheritance purely out of greed. I'd say the real topper to Anthony's mental breakdown was when he realized his brother was passive aggressively getting revenge on Anthony for his crimes.

Edit: Doom, I think there MAY have been some confusion on the World Designers and Writers parts, because there are either two stories, either Robert, through RobCo, bought up as many television screen casings, then attacked Anthony through the stock market, or, Anthony snapped when Robert bought/attempted to buy it out. Because if memory serves, Robco was buying out H&H Tools shares like crazy.

Yeah thats probably the case, there are quite a few unclear things in the FO universe. Thats right, thats what got me thinking about this in the first place, Robco definitely initiated a hostile takeover procedure, Not so sure if they completed it though... :S

Maybe is House's ending becomes Canon it will get cleared up in ten years or so time... lol
