robes and clothes and hair look terrible

Post » Fri Dec 10, 2010 12:43 pm

items didn't bounce independently of clothing. capes did not swish independently of clothing. both of these things are demonstrated in the trailer.

i don't aim for valuable posts thanks.

going OH MY HE'S A VERY ANGRY SORT doesn't magically make the trailer not demonstrate specific examples of cloth physics.

also it's not like this thread has any more intrinsic value than my post. at least i actually POINTED THINGS OUT. calling people idiots for not looking into and realizing that something is in the game before WHINING ABOUT IT NOT BEING IN THE GAME is completely justified.

Nothing justifies calling people "idiots" over the internet. Especially over something that's not as obvious as you make it out to be. It looks like the game MIGHT have cloth physics, but it's really not easy to tell from the short clips in the trailer.

it doesn't matter if it's obvious or not. if you're too lazy to look over the known sources of information on the game before you whining about the game not including something then you're a child or an idiot. the last time i called people "children" i got called pretentious. i figured i'd take the low road this time.

great poll a prime example of a bias opinion also there are many months left to go in skyrims development so just wait and things will be better and in addition all this stuff was taken on an xbox 360 not a pc ok

will you pc snobs give it a break ? xbox 360 is top of the line it is not that far behind pc in what it can handle, (not including a top of the line alienware/ and such like) ( one of the reasons it is their prime demographic), the clothes and hair movement/graphics has nothing to do with the platform but with space availability on the disc itself with the new disc release coming out soon it will even be able to handle another full GB of memory that may mean we will get that little bit of movement from clothes and hair, btw you are not gonna get better movement from clothes or hair on a pc thats just plain silly, it will move as it is set to move, if it is any different on pc it will be because of a mod not because of your insane good pc graphics card which most dont have anyway or the available memory/RAM whatever,...

I'm sorry, I'm an Xbox 360 really devoted fan, but you clearly do not know what you're talking about whatsoever, as that statement is blatantly wrong. Please stop spreading misinformation that you believe to be true.

I care about cloth physics about as much as a poker player cares about the design on the backs of a deck of cards.....

REALLY ?? You go spend the exact amount for a pc today that you would for an xbox 360 and tell me that creature you bought is hands down WAY better then a xbox 360 ! You cant and you know it and thats what I was trying to convey, but these dang pc/console wars are driving me nuts, I have both a 360, and a pc built for gaming, ( I only use my pc for mmo's like the upcoming star wars mmo) and yes it does excite me to be able to download mods for a game, but that is about where the thrill ends for me with a pc, the console is much more comfortable to play on and I have never been disappointed with the graphics to any degree on my 360 when playing fallout, rdr, or a TES game or any other for that matter,.. but thats just my opinion.

You are fogeting Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and many other games that came out on both xbox360 and PC...

And as a matter of fact Dead or Alive 2 had very good cloth physics and it's a Dreamcast game from 2000...

The games you mentioned are absolutely no comparison to a massive free roaming open world game like Skyrim, if they could do realistic cloth and hair physics for Skyrim that looked believable and still have it run perfectly on all three systems i am sure they would, my feeling is that we will have to wait until Elder Scrolls VI on the XBOX 720, PS4, and PC to see really good cloth and hair physics.

The faces seem to have vastly improved too, as opposed to the entire province of Cyrodiil filled with its citizens having round faces. Most likely helps that we can also change our character's height and body structure too.

I am in the same boat as you, i have a top end pc that my friend built for me that can handle most modern games but i hardly ever use it for gaming, my 360 is way better in my opinion. I can relax on my sofa, play on my huge screen tv with my 5.1 surround sound (i have no room for those in my bedroom), party chat with my friends while playing and i am not too far from the kitchen so i can grab a beer or a snack mid session. I agree with you 100%, i have never been disappointed with the graphics on most of my 360 games either, and like you say if someone went and bought a pc for the same price as a 360 it wouldn't be any better graphically at all. I spent £500.00 on my pc and a further £200.00 on a monitor and £30.00 on speakers, and that was with getting big trade discounts as well. Most people can't justify spending that sort of cash just to play games, i only did because i had redundancy money and i don't even use it for gaming that much.

Fixed. It would be pretty trivial for most PC's today.

Ya you're right, I wasn't speaking about pc's, current gen console hardware was what I was speaking to, which is relevent, since Beth makes pretty much all of their games multi platform these days.. Hopefully in three or four years when the next Fallout or Elder scrolls comes out, there will be a new generation of consoles to go along with it, that can take advantage of what current or or future hardware is capable of, that way we can have amazing cloth and hair as well as deep gameplay, huge worlds, and lot's of npc's to populate game worlds....

Although the games that Bethesda currently make, are enough to keep my attention for hundreds of hours already

I feel bad for all you 360 gamers. If I were rich I would buy all the 360 TES fans top of the line PCs so they could enjoy the series the way I do. :)

I hope you win the lottery or strike it rich some other way. Finally, some sympathy.

Havok Cloth is separate from Havok Physics.

Bethesda only confirmed usage of Havok Physics and Havok Behavior, not Havok Cloth.

as I said it was stated in the conversations below on you tube that the cloth was being used in skyrim, but that was by whoever posted the video, take of that what you will,... I am just saying it is possible even if not likely or true is all, not trying to spread rumor it is available for all to view and read into it what they will on the site is all.

you want a game that can keep a decent frame rate right? the game's got enough stress trying to figure out how the ai should act and casting dynamic shadows without having to worry about how clothes and hair should move when it comes into contact with other objects.

I should hope more would be put into content before they make it possible for me to watch my hair bob up and down when I run. especailly from 1st person view, when I really think about it, this would be completely useless.

Todd Howard discusses this. Sorry, I don't remember exactly where though. He mentioned how it was something they realized needed a change and they did fix it up. He didn't say exactly what he did other than the fact that it was improved. He did hint, however, at cloth physics.

Terrible? I think it looks fine. I suppose what you're describing could be nice, but it's way down on my list of priorities.
