robes and clothes and hair look terrible

Does it really matter? Sure, it'd be nice, but I'm not going to lose any amount of enjoyment if it's not there.

You know the screenshots are taken from the Xbox 360, right?

I suppose you're right. I mean who needs nice looking cloth and hair? Or shadows for that matter? Or flowing water? Or high textured skins? Or detailed weapons and armor? Or lush terrains? Heck lets just go back to a 8 bit graphics engine like the old NES games. Just imagine how much content you could fit on a dvd without all that unnecessary stuff taking up space.

Dead sure about that?

We know for a fact the gameplay trailer is.
We reasonably assume the screenshots are too.

Do you have a source to back you up?

I'd get on my hands and knees and beg Bethesda to add cloth physics to the game or at least animations. Nothing kills immersion like seeing a robe that's glued on to the character's body... Or to see capes that are made of concrete. Yeah, there were no capes in Oblivion; they needed to be modded in. But I bet the reason Bethesda didn't include them in the original game was because they looked awful.

Of course, I'm still going to play this game and love it no matter if it has cloth physics or not, but if it doesn't, I'll be one sad panda :(

I love hyperbole! Hell, I want the game to be nothing more the single square pixels. Only the most hardcoe RPG fans can play with single pixels.

What's wrong with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjqsYzBrP-M#t=01m25s?

EDIT: Grrr, stupid youtube advertisemants won't let me link to a specific part of the video. Anway, when the person is walking through the town with the mill the cloth physics look perfectly fine to me. 1m25 seconds in

THIS. if you idiots would watch the trailer closely before you start [censored]ing about UNMOVING SCREENSHOTS NOT SHOWING MOVING ANIMATIONS then this forum would be a much nicer place to be.

1) the bones on the giant's belt move as he moves
2) the cape and the robe of the guy walking through town move independently
3) there's subtle cloth ripples in the dude sneaking through the forest
4) every other instance of clothing in the video is fairly tight-fitting and wouldn't show FLOWING DRESSES

jesus christ you people just [censored] about everything.

Didn't one of the interviews confirm cloth physics?

I say we go back to single square pixels. That's the only real way to play RPGs. Anything more impressive, and I'm not buying!

Nope. I didn't see any of that. It just looked like the clothes were stuck to the character's bodies just like they were in Oblivion.

If the graphics were like this, then no one would complain.

Don't really care about that. There are more important things, like erasing bugs, better graphics for PC, and a good story line with many, many sidequests.

Clothes moved with character's in Morrowind, too, doesn't mean they had physics.

And try toning yourself down. You aren't helping the discussion by being aggressive.

That picture with the archer and the wolf? Bad hair?

I'm too busy looking at those amazing trees to notice anything else.

I think I might actually enjoy a TES game with roguelike graphics. DF and nethack are among my favorite games as it is.

It would be nice to see fully simulated cloth physics on things but I doubt we will. Things may move with the character but it isn't the same thing. It would be awesome to see a cape blow in the wind and have it look real.

If they could actually do this, I would be incredibly impressed. As far as I know, realistic physics with clothing and hair is pretty much impossible with our current technology. So, I'm definitely not counting on it.

EDIT: I'm talking about realistic physics here (like, hair blowing in the wind), which was what you seem to be wanting. In my opinion, the physics I saw in the trailer were pretty dang good.

Aaaand your post loses merit.

This poll is extremely biased, so I'm not voting - just putting in my 2 cents.
I would absolutely love hair and cloth physics! But, like others have said, it'd be difficult to put in the game. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tzaKorjmEPo/TZTvQnDOuEI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/WB4iqoTtOIU/s1600/Skyrim_Lake.jpg, just imagine a crowded town square with everyone having amazing cloth and hair physics. Your system would pretty much die. I think I'll live without cloth and hair physics, it would be nice, but it's not a must.

Wouldn't mind it, but I think it'd be pretty awesome for all kinds of different physics, like, for example, say you get a plate skirt similar to that on the http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://oblivionmaster13.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/oblivion.gif&imgrefurl=http://oblivionmaster13.tripod.com/&usg=__Vu-we0svk-OeaQf3w-207c9_Fd4=&h=687&w=577&sz=136&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=XLaLIYhB4Ry_yM:&tbnh=128&tbnw=108&ei=b6qXTaWVFcXKgQeT5qGuCA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimperial%2Bguard%2Barmour%2Boblivion%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENUS355%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D551%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=460&vpy=206&dur=329&hovh=245&hovw=206&tx=106&ty=143&oei=b6qXTaWVFcXKgQeT5qGuCA&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0 the little pieces of plate could flap as you run or fight or whatever your Dragonborn desires may be.

items didn't bounce independently of clothing. capes did not swish independently of clothing. both of these things are demonstrated in the trailer.

Now there is a practical example of irony which is a shame when your post would have been otherwise valuable.

i don't aim for valuable posts thanks.

Aaaand your post loses merit.

going OH MY HE'S A VERY ANGRY SORT doesn't magically make the trailer not demonstrate specific examples of cloth physics.

also it's not like this thread has any more intrinsic value than my post. at least i actually POINTED THINGS OUT. calling people idiots for not looking into and realizing that something is in the game before WHINING ABOUT IT NOT BEING IN THE GAME is completely justified.

meh not bothered I play games to have fun, It looks pretty enough, this just seems like more work going into graphics rather than actual gameplay, (remember how buggy, glitchy, and MEH Crysis was)
