[Relz] Robes for Priests of the Nine

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:54 pm

Edit: The mod is finished!
*************************************Nine Divines Robes - ReadMe*************************************This is version 1.00*************************************0. Requirments:************************This mod requires:- Oblivion 1.2.0416- OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender)Get OBSE from here:http://obse.silverlock.org/Recommended: Primate Rank Fix, small fix that will solve one issue with primates wearing lower rank robes.1. Description:************************This mod will add robes to every NPC in the Nine Divines faction. There are 10 robes and depending on the rank of the NPC, the appropriate robe will be assigned. The ranks are:0 Layman - Pilgrim if KotN is installed1 Novice2 Initiate3 Acolyte4 Adept5 Disciple6 Oracle7 Invoker8 Theurgist9 PrimateThe robes are added through OBSE script so this mod won't have conflict and will work for any NPC added by any other mod.2. Instalation:*************************** Make sure that you have OBSE installed. Install latest stable version. ***Extract all files from NineDivinesRobes.7z to bethesda softworks\oblivions\data. Whenyou are asked to overwrite files under meshes and textures, select 'yes to all'.Activate 'Nine Divines Robes.esp' and play.3. Conflicts & issues:************************Since this mod only adds new content, it doesn't change anything there are no conflicts with other mods. There are some minor issues:1. Some NPCs should be top rank in the game (Primate), even have dialogue that says "I am XY, the primate of YZ", but actually their rank is low, and hence they get low rank robes. [get Primate Rank Fix to solve it]2. NPCs that wear armour could prefer wearing robes.3. If NPC has more expensive piece of clothing, he/she will most likely prefer wearing it instead of the robe.4. Permissions:************************The robes can be used as a modder's resource without special permission, as long proper credits are given. If anyone wants to make changes to the mod, edit it, expand it or something similar, you are free to do it, but please contact me first. I'd like to know about it and maybe keep it in one place.5. Authors, credits and contact:****************************************Author & contact:"washington" at official Bethesda forums: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforumsCredits:People that created or helped creating the script for this mod:JGvardijaPacificMorrowindshadeMeThanks to:StellaStardust for giving me idea by starting the discussion about the church of CyrodiilCS wiki, General TES CS Forum and everyone that wrote anything there.OBSE Team for OBSEBethesda for creating Oblivion and giving us the CS.6. Inspired by http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=992541&hl= started by Stella Stardust I have decided to create a mod that adds robes for particular ranks in the Nine divines faction aka the church of Cyrodiil.
If anyone wants to join me, you're welcome!

There are 10 ranks in the Nine divines faction:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-5.jpg if KotN is installed
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-7.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-13.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-15.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-10.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-14.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-9.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-11.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-12.jpg
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-16.jpg and http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-17.jpg

The plan is/was to add the robes via script for compatibility sake and that way it would be automatically added to any priest added by any mod. I've hit a wall there, I don't know how to do it and I have opened thread about it http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=993555&hl=.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-6.jpg

Skingrad's chapel primate http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Image:OB-Valandrus_Abor.jpg. Looks like this: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Picture22.jpg & http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Picture25.jpg.

Thanks to PacificMorrowind and ShadeMe, we have a script and this mod will work for any priest added by any mod! smile.gif

Enough for now. Opinions? Solutions for script? Suggestions for ranks?

Very good work indeed!

I'm not so sure about the retextured Emperor's Robe, however. Sure, he dies after a couple of minutes, but still... it's his robe. :(

You might want to try to retexture the monk robes. They have these ribbons hanging down at the front - just like the robes of (German) catholic priests.

Coming along brilliantly, I'm especially drawn to the one titled "Higher rank", I love what you did with the trim, very regal and rather original.

agreed, actually i think the robe would be fine as long as you edited the mesh to remove the fur :)

Agreed. It's your mod, and it was merely a suggestion. And for me, it'd be quite easy to replace the mesh with a different one, if I were so inclined.
I think the other robes look very cool - only the "another high rank" one is too bright for my taste, but that is also something that I can change for myself easily.

By the way, I'm against the "different colors for the different churches" thing. Oblivion is too full of things like that... it's kinda hard to explain, but for example: mages all wear robes, fighters guild members all wear armor; there are 7 cities (without the IC) - each look different, each has a chapel dedicated to a different god, each has a mages guild that specializes in one of the 7 schools of magic. It's all so predictable and it seems so unnatural.

I'd prefer it if the variety in the churches was based on something less "shallow" than the deities they're associated with. For example, the colovian priests could wear simple/hieratical (yet very dignified) robes, while the nibenese priests wear decorated robes, maybe less dignified, but with a more personal note.

Although I like different colours and difference between Colovia and Nibenay, I'll try to keep it simple for now. I still have to make at least 5 robes. More would be better.
Yes, 4th one stands out a bit and it has only male model...

If anyone knows for some robe resource that could be applied here, post a link.

I would switch the lowest and low ranked robes. I understand and see the temptation for making them the way you did, since the "low" one has that little bib around the shoulders, making it seem more important. (And their official editor counterparts may indeed have them ranked in that order) But more cloth or dimensions on a garment doesn't necessarily make it higher quality. I think when you consider both robes a little more carefully, you might agree that the "low" robe actualy looks rattier and more poor than the "lowest", which is simple, yes, but seems to be a little more well put together, overall (just my opinion).

For the people who take care of the robes, here is some definitions I found...maybe you can use them...if interested...

Master of the robes, an officer of the English royal household (when the sovereign is a king) whose duty is supposed to consist in caring for the royal robes.

Mistress of the robes, a lady who enjoys the highest rank of the ladies in the service of the English sovereign (when a queen), and is supposed to have the care her robes.

I like it. It looks really nice, the fur works, and there's no need to think about "disrespecting" a fictional character. It's poperiffic! The Imperial Dragon insignias around the bottom don't work for a priest in my opinion, though: I'd say erase those or replace them with the red diamonds of the Divines.

You should make a mitre to go with it. Or better yet, the impossibly brilliant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_tiara!

Hmm, I see your point. The base for 'Lowest' is grey robe and for 'low' is tan robe. I have simply recoloured them, that's why 'low' looks more washed out. I'll try to make it a bit less rough.

I'll see what I can think off about the diamonds.

And about the tiara, I can include it only if someone gives it to me. I don't know how to create it.

Not agreed. I see no problem with using that robe, it looks good and the fact that the Emperor uses a similiar looking one wouldn't bother me. Just my two cents, of course. :)

Unfortunately This is, and always has been, te way Bethesda had things, even back in good old daggerfall :(

But as an earlier poster said, you've done a fantastic job of making them look like priests :)

Thanks everyone!

In regard to what MarkQuinn said above, I have tried to create new texture for that robe. Here's what I got, it looks almost to new and bright.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-10.jpg
Well, I reckon that it could be some rank around middle, and if I create one more with jewels on belt, different collar or something it could be one rank higher.
I think that I'll make two variations of http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-9.jpg: one with more details, and green one. I would most likely leave out http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll54/pero_lozhach/Clipboard02-6.jpg because I don't know where to put it.
Then, I'll need to think of two more and would have robes for all ranks!

Oh and good news: Thanks to PacificMorrowind and ShadeMe, we have a script and this mod will work for any priest added by any mod! :)

I think that robe is better for the primates then the emperor's robe, wich I think to is a bit to much like the emperor's one ;) that one is more unique ;)

Personally I think the gilt and pomp of the emperors robe suits a primate perfectly,

Furthermore if you consider the similarity of a medieval kings robe to that of a medieval bishop...similarities arise.

Given that they hold similar positions of power it seems likely they would be similarly garbed, and, more importantly, why would the emperor have a robe cut in a style never seen anywhere else? in fact i think it makes the emperors robe gel with the rest of the game a little better.

I don't know, mayby because he's the only emperor in all Tamriel xD?
Both Martin and Uriel wore the robe so it should be clear that it's a emperor specifc robe... The pope also wears a robe different then the medieval king style robes... The church should have it's own styles...
