If they can make it look realistic, make the robe stretch out so you can tell there is armor underneath, then yes. Otherwise, I saw just leave it out. It might also work to just have the cuirass and pauldrons appear on top of the robe, with greaves, boots, gauntlets, and rerebraces (upper arm section) all going underneath the armor. This could avoid the unrealistic appearance of robes being smaller than the armor underneath them, while still allowing them to be combined and looking pretty badass.
