Robots disappeared from Crash site

Post » Wed Apr 07, 2010 10:27 am

I was wandering around with Veronica, and noticed more than 6 or 7 hostiles on the "radar". So, I went into Sneak mode and moved up and scoped them out (w sniper rifle): it was a bunch of robots. I backed away, never engaged them, and they never responded to me, so I thought nothing more of it.

Came back later with Arcade Gannon to investigate the 'Crash Site',and the robots were gone??!! Explored around area, never found a robot corpse or any sign of them. The area did have a lot of Feral Ghouls running around - so should I assume that the robots took out after a ghoul that got too close to them or what??

Just curious if anyone else had this happen

There are a few sites that seem to routinely loose their enemies. If you save and reload they generally reappear which can be humorous if you happened to inadvertently save right in the thick of them. :)

More importanatly, did you actually search the crashsite for one of the greatest weapons ever?

Yeah it's a good weapon, but I wouldn't call it great: it would rarely 1 shot a Deathclaw, almost always needed follow on shots (from other weapons, cause it takes so long to reload!!)

Hungry Donner - never heard that about disappearing enemies. I can live without fighting 7 or 8 robots at once though, so I'll just skip the reload!!

It does happen sometimes. I had it happened with robots at crash site too. It does happen at many other places. Sometimes it might lead in to some not so humorous situations, as when 3 Deadclaws appeared at the entrance of cave upon exiting it while there were non when I came in. It might very well be bug.

The ghouls roaming around were likely from the nearby location Old Nuclear Test Site (or something like that, to the west of the crash site). I you wander that way, beware, that was the first place I saw ghoul reavers in FO NV.

I was messing around down there before I was tough enough to survive, something like level 4 or 5. All those robots came at me and ED-E. We ran (well, I did) west like crazy and I almost stumbled right into that mob of ghouls at the test site. I managed to escape. A while later I ventured back to find a lot of robot wreckage between the two locations. Waltzed right down to wreckage without seeing a single survivor. I think the ghouls got 'em.

That's a little surprising - I would have expected the group of robots to make mince meat of a Feral ghoul, assuming that the robots stuck together at least. Was wreckage concentrated in 1 or 2 spots - indicating that robots stuck together??

I was very surprised myself -- that's why I thought it was worth mentioning.
I should mention that I didn't see any Sentry bodies (but I wasn't exactly searching too hard) and I was chased by a couple of them earlier -- The ones I found were all Mr. Gutsys, and they were all in one area, spread across the side of a little hill. There's some Glowing Ones and Reavers at the test site.. maybe they ganged up on them?
After reading this thread I'm wondering if the Sentries didn't just disappear. NV Reavers are too nerfed to take on a Sentry, don't you think?

Yeah, I would have expected the group of robots to have not much problem with 2 or 3 Feral Reavers, but if the robots did separate, and got ganged up on by a few Reavers, than I suspect even a Sentry is done for

crazy idea for a mod : staged battles between selected groups of enemies (like Reavers and Sentries)

I approached Dead Wind Cavern and was shocked that there weren't any Deathclaws outside. I thought "my lucky day!" I go inside, clear out the cave and pick up all the loot. I exit the cave and I'm immediately surrounded by three or four deathclaws. The mess I made in my armor didn't deter them.

It happened to me at the same cavern. Except I went there quit low level while exploring. I did non know who inhabits it at that time. Once I found out I quickly backed out ...just to be ambushed by 3 deadclavs spawned fresh in front of it.

The posts about all the bugs in the Thorn have scared me away - maybe after I finish this game I'll reload an old save and go there for some fun

The main quest in Thorn doesn't have any bugs that I've found but if you fight in the arena that is buggy as heck so I skip it.

Heh, count yourself lucky!
When I came across that site, I saw what I thought was a couple of robots. Of course, Boone took off after them like a bat out of hades and the next thing I knew, I was in a "holy cow! what-the-heck? OMG!" robot battle royale.
It was fun but afterward, I wanted to smack Boone about the head and neck.
