Robots

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 4:38 am

Hey guys (and girls),

Just had another thought - while reading a Fallout New Vegas Fan-Fiction and thinking of robots:

Do you think we will get robot companions again?

I mean Codsworth would be an obvious choice, wouldn't he - particularly if you can upgrade him to Mister Gutsy status (better weapons, armor, a coat of paint etc.) :) - if we can upgrade/build damned Power Armor, that should be a piece of cake :) (Hell, I want some robots to defend my settlements, too as static defenses (turrets and traps) are a bit boring (and guards are unreliable...robots don't get tired after all!) and nothing beats a mobile defense :)

I mean I really hope that we get more robots (that we can fiddle around with - exchange their weapons for some we like better, paint them, give them stealth tech etc.)...I'd even hope for something like a brain-bot with a pre-war person inside, now that would be cool, wouldn't it? (particularly as the PC is from that era, too!)

greetings LAX

Robots for settlement defence is a great idea. If they aren't in as standard already then I hope a DLC or Mod comes out with them in.

Please when posting such confirmation actually post a link to such confirmation as 'Ive heard it, or I saw it ....' does not really cut it.

In terms of upgrading a Mr Handy no a Mr Gutsy...... cant be done. They are 2 separate models. If you wanted a Mr Gutsy in the olden times, you bought a Mr Gutsy. It might be possible to upgrade the weaponary somewhat of a Mr Handy but never to the level of the other model.

It was stated by bethesda themselves that in the beggining you can choose codsworth or the dog to be your starting companion i dont remember where it was in some interview i think. you would simply follow codsworth into your home after he goes too make you food and then you could ask him to come with you.

near the end, for the source 'voice of reason' and others were referring to

don't get so salty, i'm sure you've given a rumor/fact for a game without listing your thirty in-text citations for it to answer a quick question

I know that Codsworth is a confirmed companion, or from what I heard from a trailer anolysis. If there are others, like a Sentry Bot or a Synth, that would be interesting too. I hope that you can have lots of companions with you, like in Fallout and Fallout 2.

A synth/android companion would be interesting. My own personal terminator.

But if we only get about eight companions in the game (which I'm assuming), then I don't really want any more than two to be robots. So, perhaps Codsworth (confirmed) and some sort of synth/android?

it'll probably be like skyrim and fo:nv

a human and a creature companion slot

but mods will fix that like 6 minutes after the modding tools come out XD

I'm thinking that's the case as well. I am also very sure you can get a Super Mutant companion as well.

I think I would enjoy another Mr. Gutsy, also I'm sure there will probably be a couple of Synth companions.

Saw a friend play FO:NV with follower overload. An issue in narrow places.

Yes used an mod in FO3 to repair and turn robots who I used for defending open/ vulnerable settlements and also gave fire support at good fasttravel locations who had respawns.

I actually dont think this would be a good idea. Rogue Androids could upload 'viruses' to settlements they encounter and if those settlements are patrolled/ controlled by 'friendly' Robot units, they could prove unfriendly when the sole survivor returns. Also the Institute could want to screw you over by doing the same.

Indeed - hell, I was always hoping to get Victor in Vallout: New Vegas :( - "Howdy Partner!" ;)

Well, I disagree - the chassis is the same, the arms are the same (except better weapons!), the hover-drive is the same etc.

A Mister Gutsy is just a "pimped" Mister Handy with a new coat of pain ;)

greetings LAX

ps: Yes, you can speculate that internal components would be sturdier etc. but that has never been said in the games :)

Well, they could do the same to your turrets though - so the danger is not that much greater (and I don't think robots are like a wireless LAN...they might be able to receive radio communications, but they'd probably screen that stuff for viruses etc. anyway)

greetings LAX

ps: The Institute is described like the BOS (and unlike the BOS they don't beat you up for having a laser-rifle) in that they keep to themselves, I don't think they'd get their jollies from screwing you over (I - contrary to what many believe - don't think they are the big bad in this game!) - unless of course you declare open season on them or do something else to piss them off royally and repeatedly :) (which I probably won't as I want to gain access to their tech!)

I think they obviously meant to Upgrade their Mr.Handy to Mr.Gutsy status. Ergo, replace the coffee pot for a plasma nodule, replace chassis of Mr.Handy with that of Mr.Gutsy, upgrade his AI with some new combat subroutines.

If Codsworth cant be upgrade, like EdE, he will be inferior to the Sarg gutsy in F3. So, I dont thing they will make a companion much worst (or much better) then a companion from previous game.
