[REQ] Rockiersharper rock meshes

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 5:24 pm

Hello everyone! I have a request of any modelers out there. I am working on a Red Mountain mod, and I've been trying to find a new rock resource for it. My attempts at making rocks end far too smooth looking and don't fit the vision I have for RM.
I've found a couple images as references to show what I mean by rockier looking.

If anyone could make a couple meshes I'd be grateful. I'm currently using some retextured (and slightly tweaked) Bloodmoon rocks to fit my needs. Some diversity would be very welcome.

These resources will change Morrowind if they are made. I think everyone knows the rocks are too smooth. Makes sense in the swamp, but not right next to an active volcano. I've always thought of the tear from TR as being like the http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/White_cliffs_of_dover_09_2004.jpg, so may I suggest if someone takes this on, that a similar mesh be included in the pack.

That's what I've got right now. I'm using the glaciers from Bloodmoon and giving them the Red Mountain rock texture (tx_rm_rock_01 I think). They work well for what they are....

sorry, I should have read your original post better. Looked at the pictures, and the glacier was the first thing that came to mind. Check out Geonox's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2042, pretty much all of the rocks in the hall and room meshes are separated and mostly closed. I count 8 rocks making up the ceiling in Geonox_Tower_Pass_Ex.NIF, and they're VERY jagged.

From his v1.2 readme:
All designs, models and textures are made by Geonox. The models are a modders free resource but remember to give me proper credits for the models designs and textures, also when a texture is recolored or models are retextured or modified with 3d software.

p.s.
too bad you can't use the bottom of http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=11948

I have a mod resource pack entitled' Resourcepack1,3' , unfortunately there is no readme but i think it may have been Vurt's, that has several rocky landscape meshes in.;

NZdawghaus: Thanks for those. I got 3 rocks from your suggestions. I had to tweak them a bit, but I think they'll be helpful.

Slart: That's too bad. It would be bad if I used someone's resources and gave credit to the wrong person. Maybe vurt will show up and mention if they are his?

Have you looked at http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=4291? It's got his cliff pack and also a handful of chunkier rocks in it. Check out the nifs with shard in the name.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm searching through them right now. Though the last one is a bsa which I'm having trouble unpacking T_T

So I got was able to use the bottom of Battlespire as a rock mesh. It works pretty nicely. It's not a mesh I can use everywhere, but it filled in a nice spot on the top of the mountain so far. I found an Oblivion mod (Blackwood Rocks Project Modder Resource). Hopefully a couple of those rocks (and there are many) will be useful to me.
OBMM's bsa unpacker and BSA browser both won't work for me with that TamRes bsa. so I guess the BSA Commander is my last hope for that one..

EDIT: TamRes.bsa has some awesome resources in it. They weren't what I was looking for, but I think I can put some of it to good use

Would you mind sharing the best finds? I reckon on my Red Mountain Stretching mod ( ) I'll have to replace the curved normal rocks on red mountain with sharper counterparts, otherwise be a bit odd having all these rounded rocks on such high/sheer surfaces.

No rush, still trying to perfect the heightmap, some other issues to resolve :D

Sure. That bsa I just opened as a TON of rocks to go through, so I'll be retexturing them (using tx_rm_rock_01) and seeing if they look good in the red mountain region.

Rock folders labeled Dementia and Mania are probably retextured oblivion meshes right? Because that Tamriel Resource has those. I'm hoping they are rocks designed to go in Shivering Isles areas instead, because I do not believe I'm allowed to use Bethesda made meshes from oblivion :(

Dang. There were some cool meshes in the Mania one. Well, at least there are 40 original resource rocks to work with from the pack.

One of these days Im going to put together an exterior cliff-like tileset. Ive already played around with the idea and made some pretty good stuff but I want to get it just right.
