Rockstar should get the rights to Fallout and make it right!

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 6:21 pm

I voted yes simply because I was able to play GTA4 for 300 hours and have 1 lock up, and Red Dead Redemption for 54 hours and have no lock ups. Fallout New Vegas was a waste of $85 because after about 15 minutes the system freezes. I know people have had a lot of issues and others have had none but for me I have 20.48 hours on my save file, as time progressed the freezing went from every 4 hours to every 15 mins, and yes I have both patches installed, I will give them credit it seems to freeze less with the second patch.

Rockstar would def. need to change their style to get the game right but I don't see how I could really screw it up, at least I would be able to play it.

Rockstar = Games that don't freeze / not much thought into the story sometimes / great ps3 graphics

Bethesda = Game that freezes / good story so far / glitchy graphics

I really don't see how Rockstar could screw it up worse but I am being a little biased since it doesn't work

You are REALLY [censored]... Obsidian made Vegas, that's what Bethesda gets for hiring screw ups, everybody blames them! Rockstar makes Mob/Gang games. If they had made a badass zombie or nuclear threat/war/survival game that kicked ass I would understand where you were coming from. If you were to make a reasonable arguement you would have compared RDR with F3. If you stated Rockstar's latest game with Bethesda's then you would have an arguement. So [censored] you

Seti, you believe Bethesda has more rights to make Oblivion with Guns than the actual creators of the franchise? Fallout 3 was really Oblivion in a different setting. It didn't have a Fallout-y feel and it's plot was rehashed. But on topic, if Rockstar got their hands on it, I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Oblivion with guns? My arent we creative with an almost 4 year old joke.

Anyway, Donnie, if your caring more about game mechanics than story, then yeah you might be right, but the thing about Rockstars games, there has never been a Rockstar game I liked playing when the Main Story was completed. There was nothing to do, it makes you realize their games arent that deep outside the storyline.

It's an okay joke. I mean, it's most certainly true. Everyone remembers how Fallout was and could have been Baldur's Gate with guns, instead, right? :P

Meh, I just find it an over rated 'I'm so clever for hating on whats popular' kind of remark. The only games I really hate on are terrible games, IE F:BoS, Superman 64, The Godfather II, etc. Theres far more terrible things for me to focus my hate beams on

Fallout 2 was original? It was a massive mod of Fallout, the storyline of 2 is an exact rip too. 'Find Obect A to save my people, then I become embroiled in an evil entitys destruction of humanity.'

Original? I think not.

Edit: This isn't my natural opinion of Fallout 2, I'm just making a point

Wait, this is the same bug squashing Rockstar that released GTA4 which was unplayable for a considerable amount of people (More than the number who suffered with New Vegas sppsrently) because the game froze during the first cutscene?

And the same Rockstar that made the DLC exclusive to Xbox for nearly six months?

The Same Rockstar that released GTA4 on the PS3 with broken mutliplayer.

And the same Rockstar that released a buggy, badly preforming PC port of GTA4.

Face it Rockstar is as bad with the bugs and glitches.

Col. I don't hate Fallout 3, I just say it's not the same feel. That's just it. It doesn't feel the same as the originals. But I don't care if you guys dislike it or not, I'd never play a Rockstar Fallout Game....

At least Bethesda tries to keep it in the Genre, imagine, or better yet, don't imagine what Rockstar would do. -Pulls out the razor blades-

I love RDR, it's one of the best games I've played. Yet I would not want anyone else to make the Fallout-series. I love RDR for what it is, and I love Fallout 3 for what it is. (Although I do hope Bethesda take a few leaves out of Rockstar's book when it comes to Skyrim, for instance the horse controller).

Was? Fallout was in development and came out long before Baldur's Gate. The opposite is highly likely however, given that Fallout was a huge influence on BioWare's development of Baldur's Gate.

The real Fallout with Swords however is Arcanum.

It's still a more decent story and actually masked unlike FO3 then.

Bethesda did the testing on both.... They're responsible for the bugs and releasing it with them.

they're also the Publisher, and if they felt the game was incomplete, or too buggy for release had the option of rejecting the game for further development. If I were more cynical (which is something I consider impossible) I might even suggest that an upcoming shopping frenzy might have influcenced a quicker release than would have otherwise have been desired....

It was a joke, hence the :P. I'm aware of their respective release dates.

Rockstar would screw it up big time if they got the rights to it. I have no problem with Bethesda keeping the rights to Fallout all they need to do in the future is, if the game has problems with Bugs or Glitches then you delay the release for a month or two problem solved. If Fallout New Vegas would have been delayed 2 months we wouldn't be (Censored) about it right now. What we would be doing is begging Bethesda to just give Obsidian the rights to future Fallouts.

While I love RDR to death; it's not nearly as deep as FO. Bethesda is one of my favorite developers (as is Rockstar) and I think they should keep it..

Just because Rockstar has never made a RPG doesn't mean they can't. I have yet to play a bad game by Rockstar. Their games have a lot of effort put in them. HOWEVER I feel that it should continue to belong to Bethesda.

I think Bethesda should hold onto it, unless Black Isles came back, then they should let them work on it (of course, they'd be publishers and get a nice chunk of cash)

Rockstar makes great games, but not this kind of game.
Their sandboxes are totally different from Fallout's and tend to be very rigidly story-driven.

Bethesda does open-world games better than anyone out there, Rockstar included; why take one of the best open-world game series away from them?

You do know that Obsidian comprises a large amount of people who worked at Black Isle? Probably as close as you'd get.
