Rockstar should get the rights to Fallout and make it right!

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 9:53 pm

To all those who played Red Dead Redemption

How many think that Rockstar should take these Fallout makers to school?

Because recently I just got Red Dead and I totally got hooked into the wild west and free roaming areas and the ability to be a good guy or bandit and WITHOUT the BUGS and GLITCHES!

I mean come on, Both Bethesda and Obsidian totally messed up Fallout: New Vegas with the poor quality in the engine because the game still constantly freezes, my partners "melt" thru rocks and gets stuck.

Maybe Bethesda and Obsidian should do whats right and give Fallout to a game maker that actually knows how to please gamers without trying to rush games with massive glitches and bugs.. And seeing what Rockstar did with a similar game then I am sure they can make Fallout what it should be,, A good game for serious gamers.

Anyone else thinks Rockstar can make Fallout better?

You mean as a sandbox game? Perhaps.

A Fallout game? No.

Red Dead didn't strike me as anything revolutionary anyway... GTA4 on the other hand..

No because then it wouldn't be considered a Fallout game. Rockstar doesn't have Character Creation in any of their games which is their biggest flaw in my opinion. Could they make an amazing story sure, but would they keep the RPG elements that make all the Fallout Games great, no they wouldn't.

Rockstar would turn it into a GTA game.
So no.

And this thread belongs in Fallout Series.

I don't know about bad characters, Because Max Payne was awesome, and Red Dead is my 3rd Rockstar game (I hated GTA series) but we all can atleast admit, no known glitches or bugs in Red Dead (or old Max Payne) and Rockstar was quick to fix their errors, while we Fallout fans waited 2 months for a puny 20 mb patch that did jack!

I agree with this, the thing about the any Rockstar game, it always has the appearance of freedom, but really having a limited choice in options. I enjoy GTA, and from what I can tell, RDR is basically a wild west GTA, in engine and graphics, and based on what I've read it functions like it. Meaning outside the story and just driving/walking, there isnt that much to do.

Minigames. :bonk:

Only Minigame I remember from GTA4 is that block game. All the side missions were

'okay, take this package and lets hope nothing goes wrong'
-something goes wrong-
'GUNFIGHT CAUSE THATS THE MANLY THING TO DO'

But I DID like the parachuting sidequests in Ballad of Gay Tony.

It depends on what you mean by mess up.

In my opinion, Obsidian crafted one of the greatest games of all time. The story was amazing.

Number of RPGs Bethesda has made - Like 50. Plus Obsidian includes the original developers of the series.

Number of RPGs Rockstar has made (not just sandbox, but choice driven, non-linear plots) - 0

Plus, Rockstar should be focusing on L.A. Noire, that game looks so kickass from what I've seen so far.

If you can find a game as huge and open-ended as a Fallout game without any glitches, I will pay you, because you will have uncovered a magical treasure.

Nah I meant the parachuting stuff from Gay Tony, the racing quests from all of them, the take out your brother to eat in the fourth one and others like tagging, acting as a police officer, ambulance driving etc.

I guess you are part right if you are referring to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II,, even tho that game had too many plot holes and other weird things wrong with its story.

But sad that those who hadn't played Red Dead Redemption are posting here, I sure hope other who played RDR chimes in, these GTA folks has no idea how good RDR is and how much better it is than Fallout in quality and glitchless roaming.

Oh well,

Rockstar may make good sandbox games (though I've never enjoyed any of them), but I have yet to see them make a half-decent RPG. Bethesda and Obsidian are at the very least RPG developers, and even if their engines tend to be a tad bit unstable I'd rather have RPG developers at the reins of Fallout than Rockstar.

The only reason why New Vegas is as buggy as it is, is because it only recieved a year and a halfs worth of development. If it had gotten 6 months more, it would be excellent.

Obsidian should get the rights because they worked on the originals and New Vegas is awesome. I thought Beth was in charge of fixing bugs. Anyways I am hoping Beth will learn from FO4 and I hope they work with Osidian on it.

I've played RDR, that's way beside the point because it is not anything like the Fallout series, nor is anything else Rockstar has made.

It's a good game, but it's way overhyped and has no replayability.

Absolutely not. Rockstars games are almost as railroaded as the Orient Express. There's barely any RPG elements at all, no choices, and little consequences.

Rockstar do good stuff; but let them keep to their strengths, which isnt a game like fallout should be.

Also, isnt saying that rockstar should make the game because they have fewer bugs a bit like saying that Ford should build your house because you like the colour of your car?

There is no such thing as a game without bugs and glitches, its the nature of software, get used to it.

(EDIT: Also, I've played RDR, GTA and Bully. They're good games, but they are really just skins of the other. Core gameplay mechanics are exactly the same.

They don't make RPG's, they don't give a damn about PC, and they are already going to ruin Max Payne 3, they don't need to destroy Fallout further then it already is.

No. It's bad enough with all the Bethesda haters jamming up the forums with their whining about how bathesda messed up the series. Please don't encorage them or give them something else to gripe about.

No really it was an attempt to get magic into fallout? For me it was just like another struglle between rituals and religion because of some book swampfolks thought to be Magical, but it wasnt right? Because otherwise it would be [censored]

this....thread....hurts my soul...........

Rockstar= YAH YAH YAH YAH YAH YAH [censored] YAH YAH YAH KILL SOME hokerS STEAL A CAR [censored] YAH, YAH YAH ROB KILL STEAL YAH!!!!

RDR is great, i love it, but it is not FALLOUT, it's red dead redemption. there is no RPG element, there are no choices to be made. If i had to choose someone other than Obsidian or Bethesda, I'd choose Bioware, and after them probably someone else who works on RPG'S. which is what Fallout is above all else, and I don't know what you've read about, but RDR was so full of glitches when it first came out that they gave out their first DLC, which they had meant to be a 5 or 10 $ cost for free. If you consider for a moment that a third person Fallout based round action and roaming will work, take a look at Brotherhood of Steel. It doesn't work with Fallout, and most fans will shun it.
