Role Playing as Yourself

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:56 pm

I'm not sure how I'd end up with regards to skills, but I'm pretty certain I'd end up in Shivering Isles.

That can't be a good sign.

Interesting....
Let's see, I'd be skilled in
Armorer- I can plumb, do electrical, do carpentry...
H2H- I've received some training
Sneak- ^^see above
Speechcraft
and I don't know what else.
Think I would get a job as a blacksmith apprentice. Somewhere safe...
Since photography doesn't exist in this universe I guess I would turn to painting as well.

Are you a photographer? I primarily shoot architecture, though also do commercial advertising.

I did play as myself. I was in the military (not bragging), just saying I did learn how to defend myself, and do sneak skills. I learned how to hide behind objects and use things that were just ordinary items as weapons. So no, it's not a stretch that much.
But having said all of that, I really haven't encountered trolls, and minotaurs and oblivion gates in RL.

So it's kind of a win/lose thing for me. I made myself very very pretty, with jiggly things, and I did get very attached to some weapons.

But in the end I end up going back to my male characters and watching their cute little buns.. whoops! Watching them kick butt is what I meant!

I don't think I would ever play myself. I think it would be a terrible experience largely due to the fact that the entire point of a game, particularly an RPG is to play a Role.

Oh, I fully agree with you. I was more interested in the concept than in the execution. :)

Roleplaying as myself seems just too weird.

Much more natural to roleplay a Khajiit.

I’m an American mongrel: Scot, English, Cherokee, and Dutch, but I always go with a Breton character. I guess a little of everything about me shows up at least to some extent in my characters, but I never intentionally create a character to represent me. Besides, I’m male and my characters are female.

My background is Physicist, Engineer and other assorted things, so that must explain why I always go with technical things like Alchemy and Armorer. It also helps that I’m an amateur blacksmith and knife maker. I was raised in the woods and was a marksman in the service, therefore my characters shoot bows - because there are no firearms available. I guess the Dutch part is why I pick even the cheapest stuff to sell for what I can get, then keep the gold and get rich. The Scot part lets me charge an adversary to kill them before they kill me. The Cherokee part is my stealth side I guess, because I’m always in stealth mode when adventuring. And the English part I don’t know about. Maybe that’s the part that makes me buy up all the houses and accumulate gold. Don’t know about that. But I would never create a character to play as myself.

I could never roleplay as myself. Besides very mild Atheletics (jogging) and very mild Speechcraft, there isn't much I'd be able to do in Cyrodiil, playing as myself. There isn't a cooking skill , nor is there a "help yur kid with her homework" skill.

i'd pretty much just wind up shacking up in the Tiber Septim Inn, and live off all the food up there on those tables on the 2nd floor. :foodndrink: i'd read all the books in the city, and since there's no TV, I'd mostly wind up staring at the walls of my unpaid hotel room, trying not to go batty

I'm a French Canadian (although I grew up in the U.S), so I guess that means that I'm a Breton.

My majors would be:
  • Alchemy: I'm a chemistry major and I'm going to become an anolytical chemist.
  • Athletics: I'm a competitive swimmer and have been doing it for most of my life.
  • Speechcraft: I took a speaking class, does that count? Sometimes I have to speak about my research as well.
  • Security: I used to pride myself on being able to pick locks when I was younger.
  • Mercantile: I look for specials at stores.
  • Marksman: I need a weapon skill and archery is really appealing to me.

Judging from the responses here, when we're all magically transported to Cyrodiil, the Mythic Dawn isn't going to have anything to worry about! ;)

No, but the beggar count in the cities will rise dramatically.

Now that I think about it, I used to do a lot of archery when I was young (everyone in my family owned their own bow, quiver and arrows). So maybe, just maybe, I would stand a chance in Cyrodiil after all. :hehe:

I could never be a beggar. I can't switch my voice from "scratchy crone" to "middle-aged posh British" that quickly or completely.

As for playing as myself... aside from being rather a coward, I could use Blunt (including axes, of course) and a bow, I've at least some measure of strength. Given a chance at magic I might be able to work out how to use it as well, but I prefer something a little more tangible if I'm going to rely on it in a fight. Probably comes from being something of a real-life Nord.

We have one cat (still technically a kitten) that absolutely loves the lockpick minigame. Every time my character picks a lock the combination of movement on the screen with the precise yet variable sounds makes her run to the TV and then run behind it to try and find the source of the sound.

With your archery skills and my hand-to-hand, I think we'd make quite the team. You shoot them and I'll step in and finish them off. Just be aware that I don't do trolls, their noise makes every bone in my body shake when I hear it. You'll have to do them yourself!

AWWWWWW! The most my cat did was sleep on the bed behind me and keep one beady eye on the TV to make sure those monsters weren't really in the house.
