Roleplaying gap

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:11 am

I personally enjoy skyrim very much have 200+ gameply hours and a year in game days just on my lvl 78 , so thank you for a truly unique and enjoyable experience.

But i would like to make a request of you bethesda and a few small sugestions

Salt: can you either patch skyrim so that food merchants carry more salt ? maybe 10-30 piles per stock rotation, or add a salt mine where we can go to buy salt 10 units for 25 septims ( maybe both if posssible ) thank you, i use food extensivly for roleplaying and find there is a huge gap in salt availability which is used for most recipes

Arrow smithing: simple idea 5 firewood + 1 Ingot = 25 arrows

Mills: wood and grain mills, can possibly patch these so that we can mill wheat into flour and create our own bread ?. and as for wood mills, it is really annoying that helgen is still destroyed ( maybe a quest to mill wood in stages for the rebuilding ?) and possibly for whiterun too ? love the the stucture around the Gildegreen , and would love to see it repaired, also 2 building have spikes in front of the doors and are now unavailable.

Thank you to bethesda and any fans who read this, i hope you will take this into account as ( to an untrained eye ) the first 3 issues seem rather straightforward with only the lumber mill looking tricky.
To all fans and forum goers, feel free to add ideas below but remember, the men and women at bethesda have provided us with a great game and any suggestions ( patch wise ) should be simple and unubtrusive

I like the idea for arrow smithing to add to it keep the 5 firewood makes 25 arrows then just change what ignot you use for each arrow type; steal, iron, ebony, ect..

As for arrow smithing, there are many mods for that already. The other things should become available too, especially with the CK coming out. I doubt Bethesda will change any of that by themselves. The core game mechanics will probably remain intact.

In agreement with much of this. I was a little disappointed to find that you can go turn the mill around, and load logs onto the splitter but cant get paid for either activity.

As for salt, there does need to be more salt around. Since I noticed how it's required even for cooking basic meat, I make a habit of always checking for salt when I trade with alchemists and innkeepers (or anyone who sells ingredients) same goes for garlic.

More recipes would be nice as well, I was a little disappointed with the list of cookable stuff. You don't heal much from the food, which is poor considering how heavy some of it is. And the buffs obtained from the foods aren't great. I'm not saying food should replace potions, but there does need to be more incentive for the player to cook than there is right now. I get the feeling that cooking was originally intended to be a skill, or part of a skillset but never got implemented fully. Since it's an activity like smithing, alchemy and enchanting that has a workstation. but no skill improves by using it.

For salt, try all the fish barrels in Riften. If you swept everything inside and out you'd probably get 50 salt piles.

True, not all of us can mod. Some can though, if this is useful for some, it's good enough for me.
False, not everyone and their brothers are aware that specific mods exist. Plenty of threads prove that.
False, there aren't mods for almost everything. Not right now at least. Without proper tools, most mods do only very simple things.

This, not only for Riften but any place. Outside bandit camps, especially where there is a cooking fire you'll find salt (and apples and cabbages) in barrels. But I do wish that NPCs would sell salt though, maybe alchemist shops have them...?

I would have liked to see the food add better buffs myself. Food would never be a useful restorative with the current conception of health in the game, but, like what they've done with resting and it giving a bonus to XP earned, I would have liked to see eating food giving variable buffs to stamina, magic, and health regeneration. Making those buffs fairly long-term, about the 8 hour mark or so, would be preferable since it would put players on an eating cycle. Having different combinations of regen for different foods would even encourage a "healthy" diet. I am, however, opposed to making eating a necessity in the game; it would be too excessive.

It could be an optional necessity. I was expecting a hardcoe mode, as in Fallout. Food would make a lot more sense that way.
