Roleplaying Help?

Post » Wed Sep 22, 2010 3:42 pm

At this point, I'm starting a fresh character for both my Oblivion Fan Fiction and for my own amusemant because my assassin character just worn it's welcome now that I completed every quest that's fit for him. I know that I'm going back to my hybrid, a Mystic Swordsman. But I need help on everything else. From race to what to do after I embark from my boat(Main Quest Delayer mod). Oh and my character is going to be neutral.

1. Race would be your choice, but perhaps a Dunmer since they are good with destruction magic
2. Leave the boat
3. Play :P
3. Join Mage's Guild AND/OR Fighters guild and level your way up, not only increasing your stats but your combat tactics :P

But remember to ask yourself, whats your characters goals, what does it hate, what does it love? Is it a defender of the people, or a person who lets others take charge. Is he/she good, or evil, will they sell magical goods to stupid shop owners, or keep them hidden away where they cannot be used by the wrong kind of people?

Jst a few questions :)

being neutral may allow u to play DB and theif guild quests without questioning rp motives, which would be the case for a paladin (like one i had).

also, since u name ur class mystic swordsman, that would not hamper rp'ing with mage guild quests either. u pretty much should be able to do any non-chaotic quest, if u r closer to a law enforcing character (which is actually up to ur concept).

Well, a neutral mystic swordsman rules out the decidedly non-neutral paladin. Sounds more like the concept of a battlemage/nightblade/spellsword. The 'neutral' allignment, although it offers plenty of questing flexibility, carries the risk of peril in fan fiction. It is so easy to spell neutral as b o r i n g and devoid of passion. Neutral tends to mean you don't take a stand - meaning a character who stands for nothing.

If your focus in on fanfiction, you probably need to develop a plan for your character and force him to somewhat march through your script.

If your focus in on roleplay however, I would prefer to see such a character get off the boat and let them wander around Anvil as you listen to them tell you about themselves, learn what motivates them and allow them to set their own path.

In either case, it sounds like proficiency in magic is required. That might suggest a good Univeristy education. . . .

If you are exceptionally fortunate, you create an RP character who just happens to be endearing and makes interesting choices that are worthy of recording. :)

Thanks to all. Right now I have a good basis and to Acadian, technically he's not neutral and is loyal to the Mage's Guild. But in morality terms, he's neutral. Sorry for the mix-up. Now all I need to do is decide on a race...

Go Breton for the race. They're good for magic-using characters, and are relatively easy to make look good.

Races as they are matter little. But Imperials would make better sense, as they seem to be more inclined towards loyalty to the Tyranny Empire.
