Roleplaying a Knight

Post » Fri Mar 07, 2014 12:19 pm

Hi guys,

I'm looking at making a Knight Build. I understand the simple things: Worship the gods, uphold honour and justice, protect the weak and stay away from Evil (Deadric/Necromancy).

So here's my question:

A knight usually serves a Lord, or a person he is indebt to. Does anyone know any mod/person ingame a Knight Character could serve whilst ignoring the MQ?

Also any other tips relating to what a Knight character could do?

Thanks!!

I suppoooose you could serve the deity of Talos and thus work with the stormcloaks to bring him back via the Civil War.

In some sort of backwards turned about way you could serve the Greybeards and thus kind of stand as their idol in order to do the MQ but that's weird.

Huh, I never really thought about how you would do that....

Perhaps there is a mod for it but I'm a Box player so I'm not sure. Sorry bud!

Well there are always plenty of Jarls who you can serve by doing bounties and all that, possibly some more personal quests.

Other than that? Not sure, I'm quite certain there are better examples but I can't think of any.

As for skills...my knight uses:

One handed

Block

Heavy armour

Alteration

Restoration

Speech

You dont really need alteration magic if you have heavy armour, but it will ensure you survive battles that prehaps would kill a run-of-the-mill warrior. You'll want to ge the spells from Dawnguard dlc too.

Think I may stay away from the Magic side of things. Perhaps use Potions due to their nearness of Science, but not poisons as they are dishonourable

You can roleplay a Dunmer who serves Arkay and joins the Dawnguard.

So you want to play a Knight, and not a Paladin. Makes sense.

It will be hard to get the aesthetics right. None of the vanilla armours fit the build. I don't know why an honourable knight would ignore the dragons though, presumably he would want to vanquish the evil that threatens Nirn

I also recommend that you do the chapel quests. Restoring the Gildergreen is definitely something very cool to do early on. Good luck! And let us know how you get on with the character.

I may throw in the Main Quest, but i'll be using an Alternative Start mod - so s/he will not know of the Dragons. Not entirely sure how the Roleplay will pan out. Hoping that he'll start off fresh as a Knight from being a Squire - perhaps do certain quests, including those suggested, then perhaps top it off with the MQ. I'm tempted, part way through, for him to become a Fallen Knight/Dark Knight but I'm not sure yet :P

If you did a Dark Knight, there's actually some cool armour you could use.

No armour for heroic knights though. :(

This is not a mod, so it might not suit your purpose. It’s what I’m doing with a current knight character.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Knights_of_the_Circle. Seeks out and destroys the undead and necromancers wherever they may be found. Wears steel plate armor and wields a silver greatsword. All unenchanted and unimproved, this guy is focused on combat skills not crafting. Blessed by the Atronach Stone to absorb hostile spells and use the magicka to restore himself (healing spells). Eventually will use sun damage spells from Dawnguard, especially Stendarr’s Aura. If he lives long enough to get them, that is. The Flesh spells from Alteration surround the knight with a righteous glow (sort of) and also save his non-Smithing low-AR backside. A squire (follower) and war dogs complete his adventuring party. They deal with wolves and other such road pests as he charges along on his mighty steed. Also this guy needs a cloak to look extra badass while smiting the unclean. Wears an Amulet of Arkay, of course.

Sadly he needs a bow to bring down dragons. (Perhaps you’ll let yours use Shouts, but mine is not Dragonborn.) Knightly slaying is best done up close with a greatsword to the skull. Make sure his squire can shoot.

Yer this is sad. I may look for an armour mod and spawn him in with it. Perhaps say it was from the Knight he used to Squire.

If not, then i'll just stick with Ebony and eventually Dragon

Ebony would look sixy as hell. Especially considering that there's a certain evil artifact out there. ;)

Just pick a Jarl and get the kill giant & clear bandit camp quests :)

For armour Heavy Dawnguard Armour looks the most knightly out of all the vanilla armours

Haven't tried yet. But I think that the Dawnguard Full Helm together with Steel Plate armour would make a decent knight look.

Though the colours could be a bit different.

But a Knight relies on protective and healing magics, if you don't take magic you would be playing a warrior....

Steel, Steel Plate, and Ebony all fit the build very well.

Devote yourself to either Ulfric or Elisif, depending on which side you decide to take. Better yet with Elisif you can have that whole unrequieted courtly love angle.

OP, it sounds like the roleplay concept you have in mind is more like a paladin than a knight. If I were making a pure knight I'd have sword, heavy armor, blocking, and do lots of mounted combat.
