Roleplaying One-Eye from Valhalla Rising.

A character from a film I just watched right now called one-eye, he's a mute, pagan warrior of some kind - possibly saxon. Though from the name of the film I would have thought viking... he's just got very black hair and is mute, a trait from some saxon spiritual warriors who took a life time fast from speech to concentrate on what the gods say, and what they say to the gods...

He starts as a slave in the movie, captured... he escapes through a brutal session over the entire group who have him. He spares just a child, who then follows him and speaks for him.

The movie follows this one eyed warrior, refusing to speak - the dead silence of the english countryside destroying the minds of those who have not ventured there before, but not him..
he joins a christian band of warriors who say they are going to jerusalem for riches and land... he doesn't pray with them... they eventually die from madness, leaving only 1 of them sanely alive after being [censored] by one of his crazy warrior brothers - who is killed by one eye in a horrific fashion. a slash an inch deep behind the neck... an axe to the back of the head...

during this film he wears no armour, just clothes - is insanely dirty all the time - doesn't smile, or anything. but he sees the future through his blind eye - and submits to his own death, without fight at the end of the movie.

This is incredibly inspiring. I could imagine him, and his personality being dragon-born.. though no speech but the shouts, and when he speaks do we feel it...

As a result, the first character I am making will be a nord - tall as possible, muscular. no armour training, just uses an axe and a dagger. He will have one eye missing or scarred and 'blind', dark hair, stubble, a dirty face. No complication, he wonders from place to place, simply seeking his death - through warriorship. Any challenge is welcomed. One power, of illusion - his terrifying entity would shatter the will of his opponents. He believes he is with the divine dragon at all times, being guided to a war of the best fate. a war against a god, a dark god - a god not worthy of Nirn. The world seems to call out his name, and offer him opportunity for victory. If at any time a guard believes he has commited a crime and begins to fight - he will kill everyone who dares come to him with such a thought. it may come that entire villages are wiped out by him in his silent divine berzererk state.

The sight of a dragon. what can it bring that he fears? pain is imagination, death is entry to the heavens. He would brandish his dagger and axe asif he didn't care - taking fire full in the face, pure will would protect him through shields. He would take those to the head of the moster, or the torso, or the belly. It would die with a finishing stab to the eye, and axe to the brain.

Every choice will be about the next battle - every diversion a way to increase his abilities and power.

I am seriously inspired. tell me someone else might be doing something like this with a fictional character of their choice.

One eye is another name for Odin, Norse King of Gods and god of knowledge.

I can't stand roleplaying as another character in another fictional series, it makes no sense at all to me. I'm not playing anything else but TES, why would I pretend otherwise? I just don't get it. Not my thing.

My first character will be a roleplay as the Norse god Thor... or at least a Nord version of him.

If you're mute, how will you get quests, talk to people or buy things? It's a cool concept, but you'll be able to do nothing but live in the wild killing things.

37 generations back in my family you find Harald H?rfagre. Dunno what he is called in English.

Your name fits extremely well for this topic by the way.

My ancestry is in the wilson clan - a viking subsection of the scotish clans. But my fathers side is saxon for sure, my last name is a saxon word for stallion keepers - or keepers of the horses of war. I wont tell you it though... lol.

In general a native brit will have roughly 5 national bloodlines, as we weaved in and out of the romans, normans, saxons, vikings, celtic.

Thanks for clearing that up. Norway is awesome...

Anyway, I think it funny that my Sami heritage (my mother is Sami) only got fishers and farmers, while my fathers line got kings, counts, bishops, nobles and doctors.

What?
Oh wait, I remember you. We once had a discussion whether the Vikings had scribes and if the runes were gibberish. Good times.

My main is always a Thief/Assassin type. But since Morrowind I have always made a Conan the Barbarian alt based off the Arnold movies. I'll be doing the same in Skyrim, and i'll be crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me, and I will be hearing the lamentation of their women. And if you don't like it, then the hell wit you!

Cool story, bro.

The last witch? That Anna or whatever from Bergen?

Sorry, I got off topic now. To the OP, that char would be awesome, but no talking would be hard to play.

Got a bit unsure now... Might be one of the last, rather than THE last...

Anyways. OP, i think it's nice to get inspired by a character, but making your character not able to talk and stuff might be a bit over the top? :P Atleast it is for me. Though i never cared for Valhalla Rising... (Have not watched the full movie though)

While I'm here... I want to be Faramir-ish. Ranger.
He's much cooler in the book than the movies so truly epic in a game.

My ancestry were Portuguese-Jewish vendors of oriental Peacocks that needed to change their names when Portugal started indoctrinating (Could not find better word) Jews into Catholicism. Their new name was "Pav?o" (Peacock in Portuguese).

I'm jealous of you.

In-Topic: Don't is my thing OP. I like to stay "TES-ish" in TES.

I thought VR was terrible IMO. Should have been titled The Gang That Couldn't Sail Straight. The decent gore couldn't make up for the terrible story and directing. It was like Herzog's Aguirre, the Wrath of God, but triple the amount of LSD and none of the good points.
