Roleplaying a thalmor

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:37 pm

So ive been interested in creating a thalmor mage just for the fun of it, and im wondering if anyone can help me accomplish this. I was thinking of doing a high elf agent coming to skyrim who slowing works his way up in the thalmor. So if anyone has some ideas on things like where to live what quests to do and how to get elven armor early would help. I was thinking of doing the DB but i wont spoil it and say exactly why. Also im wondering if i should do a civil war side, perhaps the stormcloaks to weaken the empire.

as soon as you leave helgen, go drown yourself in the sea of ghost.

.....Goldenrod bastard.....

lol jk. just never do anything to help non altmer unless it benefits you, and kill all outspoken talos worshipers.

Side should be Imperial since Thalamor are already working with them.

Other then that piss on every imperial and nord. Main quest isn't an option though

Kill Heimskrr, that annoying talos preacher in Whiterun. BTW, did you know Heimskrr, or Heimskur actually means "stupid" or "idiot" in Icelandic? I knew that before Skyrim came out, I used to be interested in learning Icelandic :P

You need to shove a sweetroll up your rear and flip off all non Altmer. Then, make you sure you're an absolute pushover in combat.

You'll be rolling in swag in no time.

Not really they made a treaty with them but they really want the empire to crumble and basically want the war to go on forever.

Stay neutral with everyone, kill any Talos worshipper, join imperials as they banned talos worshipping.

Can't be done - there's only one quest where you can sympathize with the Thalmor. Otherwise they'll look down on you like you're a Nord. If you were to roleplay as a Thalmor, it would take a lot of commitment and imagination, primarily of the "ignore the fact that the Thalmor still treat me like scum" variety.

I made a ackstory for my newly created Thalmor mage.
I got hired by a shady Thalmor recruiter in summerset isle and was tasked to sneak into skyrim, but I got caught by the imperials and was sent to helgen. I sided with the imperial guy and decided to do what he said for now. I reached Riverwood to meet up with a undercover thalmor agent named Faendal and now he is my companion. We help any thalmor we come across and kill Talos worshippers.
the Thalmor treat me lke scum because they do not know that i am secretly allied with them.

help empire will mean your trusted by them and can get close to the general and heads men because you aided them in the war so you can assassinate such people whenever you need to when you get orders from above.

Pretend you're an undercover agent by request of the highest ranking Thalmors themselves.

Because you're undercover, it would make sense that other Thalmor do not recognize you.

Well...It's quite difficult to roleplay as Thalmor.

Same as any other roles.

Murder your enemies. In this case, you have a very wide range of targets.

Good idea. RPing as an "undercover" character is always fun, and takes care of all that messy inconsistency. The rank-and-file Thalmor cannot know who you are. You need to infiltrate the highest levels of either the Legion or the Stormcloaks to sell their secrets to the Dominion.

Clearly you start off as an Imperial, heavy armor, one handed sword and shield along with bow.

Realistically.
Tall Elf, destruction spells, Thalmor robes or elf armor, one handed elf axes.
Basically go into temples and wipe out anyone inside.

Put on their robes, gloves and boots, and then wander around the roads killing every Nord you see? And anyone else that makes you stop?

I did that by playing an undercover Thalmor agent, sent to infiltrate guilds and funnel resources to the Dominion. :toughninja:

You are a deep undercover agent trying to root out the last of the blades. No one knows you are within the borders, no one knows of your allegiance to the Thalmor. Your secondary mission is to infiltrate the Empires army in the territory and see if they are planning anything against the Aldimeri

Revelation: An undercover Thalmor agent would not be an Altmer. S/he would be a human, either traitorous or brainwashed. No other character could be trusted to gain the humans' trust.

Really? Here's my suggestions. Remember, as a Thalmor, you have a small set of goals.

#1 - The war must not end until it's ground both sides to a pulp.
#2 - If the world is destroyed, you win, because it will magically make all true believer High Elves into spirit-gods that are immortal.

To accomplish goal #1 - Don't side with either side in the war. Let it grind on.
To accomplish goal #2 - You have two, maybe three chances at this one in the game.

Spoiler

Option #1 - Don't stop Alduin. Let the world-eater eat the world. You want him to win, because that ends the world, and will make you a special spirit-god.
Option #2 - Join the Mage's College...do the quests up until you have the Staff of Magnus. Then just walk away, and let your fellow Thalmor do his thing. Feel free to stop playing the character after that, as the game will never progress to the world being cracked open like an egg, but it'll happen, because you have the only means of stopping it, and absolutely aren't going to do so.
Option #3 - Do the quest to interrupt the binding of Potema...don't do the followup. Let the mad necromancer be reborn, so she can grind Skyrim and the Empire to dust under her undead legions.

I haven't come across any way to actually involve myself on the same side as the Thalmor - so I think trying to do so is just going to be an exercise in futility.

As the poster above mentioned the best thing to do in order to further the Thalmor cause is actually nothing - so erm yeah, play the game, but don't do any quests and don't resolve any conflicts :D Probably not the most awesome experience!!

If you really want to RP an Altmer I'd go with one which has been banished (popular punishment - forcing the sentenced to live among lesser beings), preferably for doing something suitably evil/dubious - perhaps involving dual casting conjuration and a dead chicken...?
