Rollback to patch 1.1 possible

Post » Sun May 08, 2011 12:14 am

So is it possible to roll back to patch 1.1.0?
If not how can I start the game without it being auto-updated so I can just re-install crysis 2 1.1.0

Is it just me or would the ability for you to roll it back render all the anti cheat measures added useless.

I know it renders me able to mod the game again I don't care about MP as I don't play that at all.

Guess uninstalling, re-installing, manual patch to 1.1 and running the crysis2.exe instead of crysis2launcher.exe could work. Afaik the launcher is the one that handles the auto-updates.

They added PAK purity. That doesn't mean they disabled modding. The OP of that thread is ignorant as to how file purity works. The game doesnt disable modding, it means that the servers you connect to require the same files. When modding becomes available, obviously all that involves is putting the modded PAK files on the server.

Yeah, the servers just use cheap check scripts that aren't very useful. I think the 1.2 update was just to enable serial key check.

Well the 1.2.0 patch did come with an updated protection and severcvar list as well as a general updated network list (all cvars are in there) but they didn't have to close the game up this tight as we aren't able to run dedicated servers ourselves they could have updated the game without locking the SP part from reading outside off pak files

Use your firewall to prevent the relevant executables connecting to the internet -> you'll be able to play SP fine, and you won't have the mp/patches which you stated you aren't interested in.

I wasn't even interested in editing the pak's for cheating. I just liked giving myself the same speed and jump height as Crysis which they lowered for SP. Oh yeah and I also got airstomp to work properly in SP! I think I'm gonna roll back since I don't play MP that often anyway.

Correct he paks have been encrypted for PC since day one. The strange thing is that they didn't care to do so for PS3 that can even run Crysis 1 maps it really seems they are abandoning the PC market and like to re-announce promised features that they didn't care to put in in the first place (DirectX11 support)

my guess is, that this was supposed to be an anti cheater/cracker measure.
Sad part is that there are obviously cheats and cracks anyways and now the modders can't enjoy their tweaking/improving :(
I hope it was worth it. And I seriously believe that there is a chance that is was indeed worth it. But sooner or later they will have to make them open -.-

again I don't believe that as MP has it's own Protection / Network and MP cvar lists and protection schemes so no matter what we would do with the packs, the players with altered pak files would simply be kicked / not allowed on MP

They deliberately disabled folder structure reading and by doing so made modding with patch 1.2.0 impossible nothing todo with hackers and such as it's done server-side you can't mod **** on a users side that can go trough the server without notice.

I'm back to 1.1.0 to make crysis 2 more enjoyable.

Not true, The rank 50 exploit was made by using moded xml files, same with other cheats. MP uses local files not server side cvars and xmls so they locked it for anti-cheat protection. The game is just that badly coded for MP :P
