OK, got one with refdcope and he had an active spell "DieyoudamnvanillaguardDie" defined in Oscuro's_Blivion_overhaul.esm. Effective effect was drain health. Anyone with ideas?

OK, on further investigation it appears that the guard and others are casting that spell on themselves, a spell they have. So now to figure out why they do this.

I unchecked both OOO esm and esp in the Import Actors: spells and that has seemed to fix my problem (at least for now).

Hello,

I don"t know if there is still some kind of support going of for this mod, but I got a weird bug.

I can't be healed at altars anymore.

I've checked the script :

ScriptName AltaroftheNineshort doonceshort DayofLastUseref targetBegin OnActivateif IsActionRef player == 1	If Player.GetCrimeGold > 0 || GetPCInfamy > GetPCFame || HasGrace == -1 MessageBox "You are behaving as the worst kind of mortal. Abandon the path of evil, before it is too late!"	Else if GetDayofWeek == DayofLastUse MessageBox "You've already received your blessing this day." else MessageBox "Rejoice! Through faith, your afflictions are banished!" Cast AltarNine Player Set DayofLastUse to GetDayofWeek endif	endifelse set target to GetActionRef	Cast AltarNine targetendifendbegin gamemodeif doonce == 0 ;days are numbered 0-6 - prevents first visit on 0 day and being told you've used it today	set DayofLastUse to 10	set doonce to 1endifend

apparently the issue is that hasgrace is set to -1.

However, I don't have the slightest clue of how this occured, as I haven't started the KOTN quest at all. I was wondering if anyone had an idea ?

Apparently, it has something to do with being a Necromancer :) I should have thought of that, still, the "error message" (yada yada, the gods aren"t happy with your behavior, you evil bastard!) could be clearer ^^

Yeah, I think I recall that from the pdf documentation.

Wow. Just ... wow.

Someone suggested this mod in another thread. The pdf manual alone deserves some kind of award.

I have got to try this mod out.... but, can anyone experienced with this mod tell me what major mods are *not* compatible?

Obviously, SM and LAME break the author's intention ... as do things like nGCD, Progress or other leveling mods. RBP, likewise...

So, which of these mods work?
MMM?
TNR?
Cobl?
Enhanced Economy?
Tamriel Travelers?

EDIT: Turns out the author has another excellent manual on compatibility. This guy is amazing.

But, I still need to ask - any other mod recommendations that go nicely with ROM?

I use OOO 1.34b5, MMM for OOO latest version, Enhanced Economy, Tamriel Travellers, COBL, TNR faces without problem.

I played Lost Spires and the Alyeid steps (the weapons were not as powerfull from Ayleid Steps as what ROM changes but everything worked.

I played for two hours yesterday and remember how much better the combat is and how annoying the fatigue is at lowest levels. The 1 pound potions svck too :)

I have also played TIE with it (some things were a bit skewed but nothing major).
I used Better Cities.

The only problem you may run into with other mods are weapon stats as ROM seems to make quite a few changes (like TIE) that are not very close to MOBS or OMOBS.

I would just stay away from Magic mods and race balancing mods like RBP or COBL races. Everything else you just have to try and look at the difference in stats as that will be the biggest unbalancer.

I got excited about this mod again and am starting one with it.

From day one. ROM requires OOO and MMM has a ROM patch.

The more you play ROM the more you like it. I like the hard hitting weapon stats in ROM, much like TIE. Repair hammer weigh more. Potions weigh more. You can only join one guild. Staffs weigh more. Magic is differnet. If you get over the frustration of fatigue at early level, it is worth spending a few hours to try it out and see if you like it.

I knew about the OOO as a base - so you are not using the MMMforOOO patches in MMM? Only from ROM?

Do not use DLC Spelltomes
OOO
MMMforOOO
MMM options that do not use runeskulls (would unbalance) like adventurers, no slimes, etc.
I used to use MMM H&C but it was weak after level 3 for the most part so now skip it.

So, been trying to play this... the fatigue thing is an absolute killer... how can you fight? 4 or 5 swing and I am at 0 fatigue and doing no damage... is the idea that I have hundreds of restore fatigue potions on me? Also, the running speed.... walking around takes an eternity!

LOL. I feel your pain. Underground's philosopgy was that after all that time in prison you will be quite week. So, here is what I do:

Turn off the fatigue screen blur (Ctrl+F I believe).
jump all the time when running forward (helps build acrobatics).
Pick small fights. Love the way I can kill a goblin with two swipes.
Carry as little as possible. So figure what you will be doing and who you will be fighting and take only what you need for that. leave the alchemy, useless potions and ingredients, extra weapons or armor, books, etc at home. The lighter you are the better the fatigue. Very much like TIE.
Sneaking seems to be easier with ROM. I am 25 in sneak and can get pretty close for a bonus hit.
Run away alot to get the guards to help you (enemy seems to be even slower than me).
I am about to hit level 3 and my athletics is 16. Getting better. When you finally get good you will feen a pretty good sense of acomplishment.
Train in athletics (yeah, only 3 sessions per level but they carry over)
Find the skill books that boost athletics.
I think the fighters guild quest for RATS (the first quest) is rewarded with an athletics boost. That is if you decide that the fighters guild is the only guild you want to join as you can't join more than one guild.

On another note, have you run into the gusrds in the IC not wearing the upper body armor? I just got this happening again (had it in all my ROM games). Can't really track it down. If I exit the area and enter back in they have their armor. Go figure.

Ok, now I did run into the guards without upper body armor, and like you said, reloading zone fixes it. It happened after I removed/added some mods and rebuild my bashed patch.

On another note, I am just level 3 with a 16 athletics, and I can't figure out how to survive at all. Since walking is very slow and running isn't that much better, it takes forever to move in a dungeon, and I am always at 0 fatigue when I stumble across baddies, which means I start the fight in a bad way.

If I wait (a loooong time) before starting the fight, that helps for the first guy, but not the second.... and its boring.

Has anyone ever gotten a character to the point that it isn't so painful to play?

1. I think the shirtless guards are a result of adding/removing mods and rebulding patch. I have hit on this last night that is seems to be a problem. Something to do with ROM scripts I think. I have changed my bashed patch to NOT import anything from ooo.esm and ooo.esp except graphics as ROM should be the mod to handle all that. Will see if it makes a difference. Could also be a case of waiting out the respawn interval for ROM leveled lists. Your guess is as good as mine right now.

2. The fatigue is a killer. It heleped when I got to athletics 25. To get it faster that is the only skill I trained. I am level 7 right now with athletics at 31. I can play well as only wearing light armor. Heavy armor is slow speed. Will leave that until I am way higher level.
ONly thing you can do is carry only what you need. Restore fatigue potions svck unless you make them yourself as they will have a longer duration. At low level only fight low enemies like goblins. Others run away from and lead to guards if you can. Unless you have a companion, reduce spawn rates to vanilla if using MMM.

See if you can find any magical items that boos speed/agility or boost athletics. Took me 23 hours to get to level 7.

What I did earlier was to wear fur boots and greaves and steel cuirass. Helped in speed and leveled light and heavy armor from fights. Block with light shield or weapon in a fight to help block skill and raise endurance. Use shield spell if you have it or shield potions. Enchant clothes with shield spell if you can find a way.

Frustrating as hell but I seem to have some satisfaction of doing it the hard way. If this is making the game not fun I would say dump ROM. Don't substitute with TIE as that is just as hard. These are I think for a specific niche of player. If you can hang in there I think it is worth it.

And yeah, don't add or remove any mods once you got the game going :)

Right now my leveling seems a little off, trying to see a way to get it reset or something. I remember something in the doc about visiting The Copius Coinpurse as something happens when you do with ROM and its scripts.

I think your best bet right now is some companion (or two) but that will keep you from leveling skills as they will take the brunt of the work. Get healing potions (expensive to buy). Making them at low level svcks with low alchemy but better thasn nothing. It may be too late but next time I start a game with ROM I will make sure I have restoration as a major skill :)

That is all for now that I have.

One thing I completly forgot about which was proposed by myk002 was to add ooo.esp to ROM before building the bashed patch. However, when I did this way back my game would hang on loading. To fix that I would use the original ROM esp to actually play the game. If you read from the beginning of this thread you will find the reference.

I am using OBSE 20 latest beta and the game loads OK with the ne ROM esp that has ooo.esp as a master. But I am not including all the ooo options on import. I will try that and see how it goes.

I need to be more disciplined when adding mods. OK, so I rebuilt with all ooo options in bashed patch for oo.esm and ooo.esp. Made ooo.esp a master for rom.esp. Patch built fine and game started fine. However, I added hemingweye capes. This may have caused the new glitch where in the IC I have 2 guards trying to occupy the same spot at the gates. Could be I need to wait the respawn time for everything to work itself out. I think I may also try to reset the abomb counter as that can fix things as well. I will post back when I can, need to stop playing for a bit.

You should definitely wait for a respawn when adding mods that add stuff to leveled lists, changes NPCs etc.

I figure this would be the thread to ask in, since ROM deals with leveling-related stuff.
Recently I've been having some quite disturbing issues with my skills.
Every once in a while, four or five of my major skills will be reverted to 0, while the others maintain their level, only the respective skills progress shows up as an insanely high amount.
I haven't really been successful in tracking this down, as it seems to vary depending on the circumstances (one time in Vilverin, if I'd engage in melee combat, taking a hit/blocking).
I'll just assume there is some issues with my load order. As usual.

Well...yeah. I'd really appreciate any help with this. Quite annoying when it happends.

Update: I might've found the reason - Governing Attributes. Didn't realise it was installed... heh.
(I remember the author saying something about it needing an update in the simple essentials thread)

For the most part the leveling works well for me but glad you found your problem. My only bad experience with ROM leveling was with a previous game,. When doing a new load some skills were over 100%. The first oveloaded skill I used would level up. I could do 5 game loads in a row and this would be the result.

Recently I have read that with ROM make sure you are at least 50% health before saving to a save you will load the game from, as that can cause issues. Good thing I had the patience to read the entire list of comments on tesnexus to find that.

I'm not really sure yet that is the problem, but it seems most logical to me, as the alchemy menu from Advanced Alchemy both shows my base skill as well as my "effective" skill. If I'd level my alchemy a bit, and re-enter the menu, my "effective" skill would be lower that it was when exiting the menu. At least I hope that's the issue.
Other than that, as you said, some skills will sometimes exceed 100% (like athletics - and jumping would get me that level...what?).

Oh! Thanks for the heads up! What kind of "issues" are we speaking of?

Despite all this, I'm really glad I decided to try out ROM. Mighty fun.

I'm still a big fan of ROM (played yesterday).

However, I've encountered a weird bug. When I have followers (Savlian Matius+ impoerial guards when freeing Kvatch, in my example), and I save the game :

when I reload my save, my followers all fall to the floor, drained of their fatigue. I have to wait for their fatigue to rise up again, which can take some time.

I was wondering if other ROM players were experiencing the issue ?
