Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:44 am

Has anyone have npc's dying without even being touched? This started to occur after i put rom in the bash patch. Not sure what mod is causing it though i figure rom is wasnt doing it before.

That's a new one for me. Can you be more specific? Are they really dying or falling asleep? Any pattern to it? DId it only happen once or often?

I do not use DR or Dark Brotherhood mod, so that would be the first thing I would consider removing to test the situation. TIE I use without this issue, but have not put in enough hours into the game to say it is not that with certainity.

I noticed this while I was following the Bash instructions. I'm not sure what fixed it, but it stopped after I verified I'd imported everything properly and rebuilt my bashed patch.

Their dead before i even get a chance to kill em. I first noticed this when i was at the waterfront and saw two dead pirates. Most of the time their just standing around talking to other people. Ill remove dr first and see if that happens. Must be with the db mod since their the only ones ive seen dead.

I see dead NPCs also in any configuration and I always assume that they were killed by guards or bandits. With pirates especially, that would seem possible, these things happen when you are not even in view, the AI is still processing. Like coming up on a dead bandit and seeing the guard walking away, or coming up on a guard fighting a bandit.

So it could be normal.

This mod is one of the more interesting mods that I have had the pleasure of playing. The mod is well thought out and has made some allowances for those of us that want lore friendliness. I tend to persue realism in my version of Oblivion (at least as much as I can in so far that the game play is not too damaged) and this mod realluy delivers that. There are only two questions that I have. First why does the character heal up so fast? I have my game time set at 12 and after a fight I still seem to heal up within realtime minutes. Am I doing something wrong or Is there a setting that I can change for this? I haven't found any but I could have quite easily missed something.

The other question involves Eating, Drinking and Sleeping. I understand Underground's reasons for not including these, but I miss not having them. Although you can centainly role-play these thing, not having any kind of penalty makes it easy to forget. I am not using anything now because I am afraid that it will break the fatigue portion of ROM. That being said, I am not a moder of any kind and would have no clue about how to do this myself. Is there anyone here that can address this, possibly suggesting some kind of work around or prehaps a mod that would not effect ROM?

Underground, thanks so much  for your efforts in producing a mod that is both playable and allows for the user an excellent role-playing experience.

[Edit] Ok I figured out the healing issue. My bad. It is part of the character race.

I think one of the birthsigns has a constant restore 1 hp, is that what you found?

I use real sleep extended, real hunger, and real thirst to make this REALLY realistic with ROM.

Underground has left for some time so do not expect him to answer. Best we have is those of us who are plying ROM and can help.

Don't those three mods (sleep, hunger and thirst) tend to mess up fatigue and alchemical substances as far as ROM is concerned? How are you making sure that the ROM scripts are not compromised?

As far as the health thing goes, you are right. I still think that the character heals up too fast. I know there are mods to deal with that as well but again I am concerned about how they will interact with ROM.

Don't know about hunger/thirst, but as the author of Real Sleep Extended, I can say that it will not mess up these things. Real Sleep Extended doesn't affect fatigue at all, and one of the reason is that quite a number of other mods do, and I wanted to keep full compatibility. Instead, RSE does all penalties by reducing your main attributes in the same way that any weapon or armor with stat damages would, and should therefore be 100% compatible with all other mods.

I wrote a long reply but the internet ate it before it got to the forum. I use a mod called 'Simple Essentials' by Skycaptain, it deals with all three, eat drink and sleep, in a lightweight unintrusive way, and seems to work well in my OOO/ROM setup.

Simple Essentials is not on tesnexus, largely I believe because Skycaptain never got round to writing a readme. There;s an old thread somewhere with a link to a download, and instructions on usage. I'll have a look and edit my post when I find the thread.

The thread is http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1069984-simple-essentials-question/page__hl__Simple%20Essentials. The direct download is at post 27 of the thread.

Thanks S'lider, I will look over the thread and get an idea how the mod works. Most likely I'll need to use something else because I really do want to use Real Sleep Extended.

I would like to ask about two installation/compatibly things.
1. Could I use ROM with Deadly Reflex combat move ONLY (without block addons)?
2. Similar about DP Combat Archery ,without block system and eventually "moving back restrictions". If answer is "yes", witch bow damage and fatigue burning values (DP CA ini) will be the best for ROM ?

Edited:
Now I'm lost. I would like play with ROM and MMM, but Installation OOO and MMM (137b) together needs OOO full ,worse OOO 134 beta (source:MMM readme). ROM needs OOO 133 and lite ver. rather then full. Any advices ?

ROM works with either full or lite version, but lite is recommended for a more ROM-like experience with less OOO-influences. If you want to use MMM, you indeed have to use OOO 134. This will bring up a few bugs with ROM, but I haven't heard of any serious game-breaking bugs. These bugs are rather some items etc. that are not balanced for ROM, and IIRC, there are some new OOO spells that will be sold by spell merchants. So in this case it's "okay" to use OOO 134.

Yeas, what MrFurious said :) I use that setup.

As for DR, I can only say try it. As with all things, whatever loads last wins and if using the bashed patch (ROM now has all its settings tagged and loads midway in my load order) the same applies, whatever loads last wins any conflict.

The last. I hope. Have you imported scripts from OOO?

edited2:
I have trouble with this file (rom ver2.30), maybe download.
I've downloaded it three times. Each time successful. Each time I unpacked it - correct. But each time I have 7 FILES into main catalog. Not 7 catalog but 7 files typed just files (sic!) by my OS. I've changed 7-zip ver. - the same result. I checked mirrors, but there no mirrors in fact. 7-zip reported : all correct , there is one catalog 7 files including.
So if someone with good heart and owns a cup free time (and good file of course) could put correct file into my net catalog I will be thankful much.

Use the BOSS tags for OOO and ROM.

I am not sure what you mean with the file download problem. ROM comes as an omod.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33114

From the files tab, download the main file. Is is an omod file and you use OBMM to install. No 7-zip needed, just Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM).

The download the compatability patches if you use MMM, Bobs Armory, Better Cities, Alternative Start, and I forget the others :).

Then download the manulas if you want the readme files.

Uff. Are you sure. My stupid OS see it as 7z file. All files into OMOD dir have correct extensions. Is it just pure omod, not omod ziped (for CRC check sum for example) ?

7-zip can open and unpack files with the .omod extension, but you won't get any usable files this way. If you right-click on the file, and select properties, you can see that the ROM file really is an omod file, and not a 7z/zip/rar archive. Just put it in the "Oblivion\obmm\mods" folder and open up OBMM, then install it.

I know. Understand please. I had to change extension from "7z" to "omod". All omods created on old OS have correct ext. Omod downloaded today had ext "7z" ( for my OS of course ).

Has anyone else run into this problem? I noticed that once I had installed ROM, every time my character crossed a cell boundary a small explosion sound and some pink and purple clouds occurred. This only happens when I move from one cell to another. I deactivated ROM to see if that was the problem. With ROM deactivated the explosion and puffs of smoke did not occur when I crossed a cell border.

To try and fix this problem I went into the UOP menu and tried the verious setting to repair the area effect spell to no avail. I also tried to various spell effects in the Ren Guard Overhaul menu. that didn't work either.

I can post my load order if needed but I am using the latest version of BOSS. I am also using a bashed patch and followed the instructions posted earlier in this thread in order to make that work correctly. I'm running out of ideas. Any suggestions?

i could be totally wrong - like way off base - but i seem to recall a similar oddity when running ROM with Reneer's Guard Overhaul. Disabling RGO fixed the problem for me... or possibly you're seeing something else. Just my two cents - sorry if I'm wrong.

I have not run into that. It has to be a conflict/quirk between ROM and another mod. The hard way is to leave ROM and disable the other mods. Or post your LO and I can see if you have mods that I do not to narrow your conflict suspect.

RGO is good direction ,I'm afraid . I expirenced similar with SM and RGO.
1. kuerteeCrimeHasWitnesses + SM regional bounty are not to bed substitutes of RGO.
2. Have you try "Duke Patricks - BASIC Script Effect Silencer NIF REMOVED" ?

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I tried disabling RGO but that didn't work. I also tried Duke Patrick's mod that was suggested. No joy there either.

Thanks for all the help. If anybody sees anything let me know.

@ Jack.Q.Frost - I remember running into the same problem with Supreme Magica and RGO. I still think that might be the problem as ROM uses some of Supreme Magicas' scripting (at least I think that's what I read) but can't figure out why disabling RGO wouldn't have resolved it. I do know that disabling ROM solves the problem.

How about removing RAEVD? I do not know for sure but I think I read in a readme way back that you may have some anomalies. I know Arthmoor is doing the mod now and doubt that it would have problems, just may be worth a shot to check by removing this to test.
