Well, I can't help you there, I haven't read any of these, but may I suggest this book: http://www.amazon.com/Light-Bearer-Donna-Gillespie/dp/B000W0K2XS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1300496474&sr=1-1 by Gillespie. It's the story of a young barbarian woman, a warrior, who is captured and brought to Rome... and becomes a glatiator! Realistic settings, very detailed story.

I'll check it out, thanks.

Yep, from his early childhood, his first command, up to his Generalship in Gaul, his friendship and rivalries with Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, and Marcus Antonius. His first marriage, his second, his affair with Servilia Caepionis his rise to power. All of his battles. S'a really good series. Reads like a David Gemmell bunch of novels, which is just awesome. :D

I highly recommend it. ^_^

Without a doubt picking that series up after I:
1) Decide which of these three books I'm reading first (already bought them all)
2) Finish the series' involved in Under The Eagle, if I like the first book of course.

I haven't read any these books, but I do watch the TV series "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I,_Claudius_%28TV_series%29" from -76 so I would probably begin to read the book Claudius.

Personally I find history quite fascinating so any book describing that time era is good book imo.
