Romance in Fallout 4

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:00 am

They wake up to a different world.

Their family is gone.

Their friends are gone.

Even that [censored] from Vault Tek who thought it was necessary to bother you before you had a chance to enjoy your first cup of coffee of the day is gone (Ok, not everything turned out for the worst).

All I am saying is let the poor protagonist have a week or two for the shock to wear off before you send him/her out on the prowl.

I get what you mean but what i'm interpenetrating is lore wise the game is progressing over several weeks and multiple months enough time for a heartless person to grieve and for a normal person maybe or maybe not enough time for a person to move on nevertheless it should be enough time for the PC to move on within acceptable limits. I'd hope the PC wouldn't go in the first town, see a lass or bloke and say hey I like you lets get married, have children and break every one of gods commandments oh and for me it was basically yesterday that my spouse was killed in the great war but I've grieved. Don't worry I get what you mean haha :P But I hope you get what I mean that by the time the PC does move on it will already be weeks/months lore wise.

I would like to have this feature, my husband and i we just saw the presentation today for Fallout 4 while dinner was cooking, and after getting done freaking out we sat there and talked, how cool it would be to have a romance in this game. Even if it was how Skyrim's marriage was, it would be nice, you have the chance to build a TOWN and it would seem a bit lonely seeing all the npc's coming and living in your newly built town, with their kids and wives, husbands etc. and you are just sitting there on your porch with the dog. Bit sad i say, having the option to have a spouse and possibly adopting kids from like a second little lamplight area would be nice.

Plus you'd have an extremely good reason to defend your little settlement because if you don't your spouse won't be alive when you come back.

What is with these topics lately?

I swear to God, every game that's seeing release where I bother to visit the forums has this romance camp begging for a virtual relationship.

Pillars of Eternity, everyone wants to know why you can't bang the bird paladin.

Fallout 4, some people are requesting that you have a relationship with the dog.

Dark Souls 3, people are asking if you'll be able to woo some nice female hollow.

Isaac Rebirth, ok cool we're getting Lilith, BUT WILL SHE FLIRT WITH US WHILE SHE FIGHTS MONSTERS AND TUMORS??

Is this like the result of the Bioware fandom not getting their fix in a while? You guys know there's dating websites out there, right?

As I said before I'm perfectly fine with romance if done right. If they take notes from Bioware and CD Projekt Red it could be a fun thing to have. And for those who don't want it just don't use it simple.

Actually I wanted it before I ever even touched a Bioware game. I have touched a BioWare RPG until fairly recently(like 4 months back).

Damn right go get on ChristianMingle, JewDate, Famers Only(seriously why does this one exist), E...whatever it's called and the other stupid dating sites. Because if you want to role play a romance in video game that somehow means you need to get a date in real life. Just like how I go on mass killing sprees before playing GTA.

I've only been single for a couple of months mate give me some [censored] time :P

Back on topic it would be interesting to have characters like Cassandra and Amata (not sure if the right spelling) as potential spouses/partners.

I am totally game for a romance as long as the android-clone of my long-lost husband shows up at the wedding and there is this palpable drama in the room of who I will choose only for my new husband to be like "Go get him!" .... and we ride off into the sunset on robot husband's pet rad scorpion. But it turns out he was an assassin the entire time.

Also, I completely agree that it's weird that generate a baby from the married protags only for it to be killed off in the first hour, Either that baby lived or you can have more babies. (but being that there are female protagonists, I doubt they are going to have pregnancy in the game)

Weird yes but very niche I think everyone else is right that the baby will return in some form but my original thoughts was its just a small thing they've added that's really niche

I don't want to have a relationship with the dog. I want to BE the dog. So many legs, so little time.

{Edit}

And I want ZZ Top playing on my human's Pip Boy while I am chasing all those beautiful LEGS.

It'd be nice for those who want it sure, personally I'd ignore it just like I'm going to ignore the whole family thing.

If it happens, it happens. if it doesn't, it doesn't. I am not going to spend time looking for it though.

This is just me, others can play however they wish, but I really don't play Fallout looking for romance. I want to explore. I want to complete the main quest for good or ill (I will do both eventually). I want to find people and help them or make their lives hell on earth (I will do both eventually). While I am doing this I want to explode some heads.

If I ever get the desire for romance, white picket fences, family and suburban bliss, I will probably go buy a Sims game.

fable 2 did it, after doing the do with a black screen, you would hear a baby cry and there was a crib. the spouse would watch over the child while mommy (me) would go off for adventure instead of being stuck at home with a smelly baby :)

then after a certain point into the story, you would come back and your baby would be an annoying little child following you around asking questions and playing with the kids, then you would have to save them lol. i actually enjoyed it :D

hey now  some of us married gamers would love having romance added and before anyone says "why don't you two just go bang already instead of wanting to bang pixels" we want it to add more hours to the gameplay

kinda like "hmm what should i do? go out exploring? no did that yesterday, kill some raiders? no did that two minutes ago, the town is doing great, hmm lets go hang with the wife/hubby" would be even cooler if they were a companion :D

husband-wife duo taking the apocalypse by storm and owning it like a boss

edit: spelling errors

If they have romance it should be like Fallout 2 -

- You can pimp your spouse in the big city for caps

- You wake up wearing a ball gag and have a disease from your night with the super mutant after losing an arm wrestling contest

Sure, I will like that.

like shedevil says, the romance in Fable 2 is freaking funny. In this game, you have to send money to home every month =p

Don't you just love the people who go on and on and on about Bioware's influence just bleeding everywhere? Right because it HAS to be Bioware right? It's not like our society is absolutely saturated with romance and love and relationship at almost every level. Nay. Tis definitely Bioware's malign influence forcing the wub into your wasteland.

Please.

Love is a media darling, if anything it's taken too damn long to show up in games. Especially RPGs, where it makes fundamental sense to include. But yeah. Bioware waifus.

Personally I really dont get why people so adore BiowEAres romantic writing. I find it mindnumbingly trivial and cliche filled at best and downright insulting to my intelligence at worst.

BiowEAre choose , after DA 2, and Deception to base central aspects of their plot on The very book they were forced to "revise" (which hasnthappened and wont happen).

Storytelling wise, BiowEAre have Long since dropped below even what Bethesda wrote for FO3.
