This game is so huge. I haven't really given mods many thoughts. And with the upcoming DLC's I don't think I will consider it for real. Bethesda has made an incredible huge world with so many details and activities it completely confuses me. They learned a lot from the modding community and seem to have put the most vital things into the game already.
What could I wish for if I had any wishes free?
1. More music in Diamond City Radio (the DJ is a major hit!)
2. More options for character specialisations (hair styles, clothing ...Yes, I know, but still))
and the most important:
3. Deeper romance options with the characters (behavior not only depending on your actions, but also the opposite).
Why more romance option? You heard it a thousand times before. People yelling and screaming about this.
Well, let me first say I'm 51 years old. I've played a LOT of games since 1995. My god, that's 20 years!?
I am not quite certain it's only my age that does it, but it has some influence. When you get older you don't want to shoot with guns and your lower parts as much as you use to. Ahem... so to speak.
Secondly game devolopers like Bethesda has to realise that their customers are getting older. Like me. An interesting game involves personal relationships. Friends and romances. We, the 'old folks' like to converse and get a response. And sometimes also surprises.
Let me list the best romances I've experienced in PC games:
1. Liara T'soni in the Mass Effect series. This is perhaps the best ever. Maybe because it also was the first I encountered.
2. Triss and Jennefer in The Witcher series. Nicely build with dilemmas that demands your own decisioins and feelings. Controverses.
3. Keira Metz in The Wirtcher 3: Wild Hunt standsmas one of the best one-night stands ever. It was incredible sweet and exiting. It was a fantastic romance created by CDPR.
The Keira Metz aquaintance starts with the quest 'Wandering in the Dark' where Geralt visits her in her home in Midcopse. This first meeting is beautiful made. Keira in her classy roman bath in the middle of nowhere, and Geralts "You missed a spot...".
The two are to explore a dungeon to find clues of Ciri's whereabouts. They encounter puzzles and enemies of different levels and categories before they reach what they seek.
What's so special about this relation? They have dialogues like many other characters in games.
Keira is flirty. No point in hiding that. She is a woman who goes for what she wants but is not to misunderstand even though she never speaks any word directly.
The atmosphere and the intimacy between them is what is special. All the way you have a feeling of a very close and somewhat intimate flavour between the two. Very varm and understanding. There's just something in the air. Based on friendship and mutual respect. But on a relaxed and natural level.
The atmosphere in the dark caverns pushes the unity.
Later on when Geralt agrees to help Keira with another quest and returns she surprises him with a romantic dinner. And it is really sweet made. Just like a fairy tale should be. An absolute wonderful scene. Splendid idea of the person who originally got this idea.
After the romance scene Geralt wakes up and realises Keira has used a sleeping spell on him. Off to find her - in the sense of "What's the crazy girl brewing this time..."
When he finds her the conversation has multiple option for the outcome. An this is exactly the point you get real deep involved in Keira Metz as a character. It somehow places the candy on top of the cake. Geralt can choose to care or not. The scene is built and the dilemmas in the relationship are loaded.
This is actually one of the very best interactions I've experienced for a long time in any game. I enjoyed it very much. The romance was not just an 'Amulet of Mara'. There was complications and decissions to make. Just like in real life.
Funny thing is, when I think of the game Keira Metz always pops up as the first thing. It's not Triss or Yennefer who comes to mind, although the main romance is centered on these two characters. Well, yes, they are well made, but they are not nearly as intense and deep as the romance and friendship with Keira Metz.
So, Bethesda, what's it gonna be?. Can you give us old folks and romancers what we'd appreciate?
regards
Mush
