Romance with Amata.

I'm curious why this wasn't involved in the game. I thought it would've added more depth into the game. They added little comments in dialogue that hinted feelings between the two(as a male character) and after the side quest Trouble on the Homefront after I made Amata overseer she asked me to leave the vault forever and I was hoping there was a option to confess feelings and have a relationship and I could come and go from 101 as many times as I wanted. I would also like backstory on what happens to 101 and Amata after the story concludes like after a while they reopen it and the lone wanderer and Amata have a kid or something. As you can tell I like depth in a game and marriage in Skyrim was an enjoyable little thing to have but needs more depth. I remember in Fallout 2 you could have six(of course they didn't show anything and they took into account if you had a condem or not) and I've heard they had marriage in it. If you could either tell me pros/cons of this, if you agree/disagree, and if you like things like this also. Also the whole relationship thing could be improved if they did something like Dragon Age. Not exactly but take some concepts from it and like SWTOR how they have a growing relationship and can get married. I hope future Elder Scrolls and Fallouts have a romance mechanic.

Let me get this straight.. you want to take away, what was already watered down: Character freedom..
Fallout is about being a freeform character that is why in all other games you can decide your age, build, six etc.
It is also the reason why there is no character interaction prior to the start of the game. Bethesda has used this mechanic themselves for nearly every TES title. You start as a blank sheet.. So you the player can create/ roleplay the character that they want.
FO3 abandoned this technique by giving you a full blown backstory, and though bland it sets down a few things you can never roleplay:
Amata is your friend, Butch bullies you etc. etc..
Adding romance within that framework especially if it is gender specific would take away even more freedom for character development.
The non Bethesda title you use are different in many aspects. Unlike older RPG's like FO or the way how Bethesda frames their protagonists, bioware often chooses a specific role/character for you... and let's you develop that character..
Romance in a freeroam game can work.. but should be limited to logical characters (ie followers) and should be completely optional and able to be influenced by player choice.
(It is telling that Fable II had more depth in marriage than Skyrim.. incl. sixual preference, dialogue, romancing etc...)

Personally I would like them (whoever is going to make it) to leave it out..

Agreed, but Bethesda had it in Skyrim, so we're probably gong to experience some in Fallout 4.

I don't see why they shouldn't have the option to. That's the point of an RPG, in my opinion, to give you the freedom to do as you please.

RPGs are for killin' an stats, Sims are for marryin' an families

Well, id understand if Amata was a boy if you chose girl, but.. /shrug. I dont bother with all the marriage stuff anyway. In Skyrim never did it. In Fable II murdered my wife I think. /shrug.

And what do you mean since they have it in Skyrim it will probably be in FO4? They had horses in Oblivion, but nothing but your own two feet in NV. >_>. Just because they have something in one game doesnt mean they will add it in another.

I dont like the thought of marriage in the Fallout universe. At anytime your wife/significant other and children could be murdered or captures as slaves, and I couldnt have that risk.. It would be too heartbreaking. So I would never take a wife, to protect her and my family. And that in itself would be heartbreaking, knowing that I could but choose not to to save them from a horrible future, with a lone wanderer as a husband and father who may very well never return home..

/shrug

So yeah.. For the sake of whats left of my sanity and to not shatter my heart, I hope they leave it out.

According to my characters stories, and my play style in general, a family would be totally out of character, which is why mine would never have one. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the game. It's presence isn't hurting or hindering my gameplay experience in any way, so why should I care whether it's there or not? But it's presence would make the game more versatile. If they pidgeonholed every player into doing what only one players personal preference is, it isn't a very versatile RPG, is it?

What you're saying is like "Oh, I don't agree with slavery. Therefore there shouldn't be any slavers in the game."
