Romancing Cait is worse than a having an Enama

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:19 am

I picked a lot of locks with her. But, walking around naked wasn't on my agenda. It was during the conversations with the settlers seeking help that I got a hell of a lot of dislikes from Cait. Being a tough survivor doesn't mean you have to be hateful, spiteful or user of people. People are out there are struggling to survive just like you. Why would you take advantage of that? Hence, the Minutemen are pout there to gain support and to unite the settlers in the fight against the Raiders and [censored].

Cait believes people take advantage of your kindness and that you should be given proper pay for proper work. Basically, Cait has been used and exploited her entire life and thinks if you don't argue for more money that you're being walked over by people who ignore how dangerous the work is. There's also the fact she has been abused so much she doesn't really BELIEVE anyone is good and decent until she gets free of her psycho addiction.

Because, well, Psycho is cocaine-meth-murderdrug.

When you've been a slave and no one does a damned thing about it, it's hard to take helping other people who refuse to pay you seriously.

I suppose you are right, but I don't have to or want to stoop to her level. I just want to do the right thing. Let's face it, my husband was murdered and my baby was kidnapped. Will I seek revenge, absolutely, but only against those who deserved it. The world is full of excuses. Just look at the real world today. I guess it all boils down to one's morality.

True.

In the end, Cait trusted my Sole Survivor who was Captain America after they took a few dozen bottles of vodka together.

Getting drunk after a hard days work, is the South Boston way.

:)

I also didn't take her to negotiations.

Hehe.

Not sure I'd want to bring RL morality into the FO world. I mean damn, I'm killing people constantly. But I will end up playing several different characters in FO4 just like I do all TES and FO games. I have to play a particular type of character for example to join the DB in Skyrim, or to willingly be a Werewolf, etc. In FO I'll play my benevolent saint types, my selfish types, my evil slaver types, just to get in everything the game has to offer, but it takes several play-throughs. Generally however I am a good guy. I like being the hero.

The fact that with time we can clean up Cait and save her from herself seems like a very just cause. Just don't work for free and open locks around her and her affection should still grow high enough to go through her story line.

Personally speaking I ignored her dislikes and still maxed out her affection. Who would have thought constant drinking/drugging/lock picking was a way to a woman's heart?

Well, she's a junkie cage fighter, so I'm not sure how you expect her to like a "good guy". Just because the Devs made it possible to romance all the companions does not mean said companions don't have requirements that your play style does not line up with. That stipulation actually makes each companion unique in the overall game (a good thing, IMO).

I know. I just wasted another several hours of trying to work with Cait, but you have to save a lot with her, because no matter how you respond to a settler asking for help Cait dislikes 90% of your responses. I simply can't deal with that [censored]. It's a good thing I saved. Cait is a [censored]. I hate her, I really I do. I will simply stay away from the Combat Zone. Thank you very much.

Cait is fine to be with. Just don't try to be nice to people, just be businesslike and professional.

Or, again, just get plastered with her.

The alcohol/drug thing stops working after you do her side quest, if I recall correctly. I basically just walked around naked town to town, like possum said above, and it maxed out her approval. I really like Cait, though. She reminds me of Cassandra from DA:I. Gruff and tough exterior but soft on the inside. Shame her attitude towards helping people doesn't really change even after her quest.

You still get a perk. The perks from making a companion like you enough are quite neat.

Like everyone else said, the key to Cait's heart is simply to treat her with kindness in her dialogues and pick locks and ask for a bit more money from everyone else.

Best thing to do is leave her behind when doing Minutemen quests, since you are supposed to be nothing but altruistic as a representative of the Minutemen.

It does svck that now that she is clean of her psycho addiction she doesn't like when I take drugs. "Dammit Cait! There's twenty feral ghouls and I need that sweet, sweet jet!!"

Take of all your armor and your vault suit and just fast travel from "known" spots over and over. I did that and it took me about 5 minutes to max out romancing her XD

If her attitude doesn't change then there is really no point in pursuing her. The thing is, too, that there doesn't seem to be any real reason to travel to the Combat Zone in the first place...unless you are just exploring or intent upon romancing Cait.

Yeah I must have overheard something while walking around in Diamond City because the place popped up on my map after that.

I don't do that and don't want to waste a perk point on something that makes me sick inside.

Why not just become Cait's friend? Why do you HAVE to romance her if you go to the combat zone?

That's what I did. Figured it'd be just wrong and kind of disrespectful for my character to go, "OK, now that I've listened to your tragic backstory and acted as your personal psychologist/rock-to-cry on, want to have a romantic relationship with me?"

Now that I have done it I found her very easy to romance. No I didn't run around naked, I just found that idea silly and out of character. I just took her on a bunch of missions I deemed neutral, picked a ton of locks and off to bed errr “fade to black" we went. At first I didn't care for her much and didn't really care if she liked me or not but her character grew on me.

Piper is the one I am having trouble with and frankly I don't think she is worth the effort anyway.

The singer is my favorite one night stand and I go listen to her sing whenever I hit Neighbor. Unfortunately she does not seem interested in a repeat, I must not have impressed her in “fade to black” :)
