prostitution was common in ancient times so [censored]s would be nice touch, and very common in the earlier TES games they had temples guilds with them so yes I want [censored]s in game lol, thou dont need graphics of love making. but boobs would be sweet

Uh...what? I don't even...

If anything, the bizzaro-world scenario described above would add to surrealism if anything.

I always wonder what's wrong with TES players. Love? Childish! six? OMG, doesn't happen in real life! Seriously, intimate relationships to other humans are probably the most important thing for almost all humans no matter what race they are, what's their social status or what country they live in. No one of us would even be alive without it. Yet as soon as someone asks for it to happen in a TES game there is a loud outcry as if someone was asking for being able to [censored] children. This is meant to be a role-playing game. Yet people don't want to play one of the most important parts of life with their character, for whatever reason.

Maybe because they feel people could see them as nerds who got no real life and no real girlfriend/wife? If that is the case and if you have a life outside computer gaming then I wonder why you have such a strong feeling about this subject. I'm happily married and I feel that a true RPG needs relationships between characters. Everything else would feel artificial and is indeed one of the things that ES games are lacking big time. Characters feel like empty computer figures who only exist for the purpose of handing out tasks to the player. And not like living human beings with emotions and relationships. Everything you get to see the relation someone has to you is a silly disposition value.

I agree that a believable relationship is pretty hard to make in a computer game though. There is always a limitation, you've only got a limited amount of dialogue choices and things you can do. But that is true for most things in a CRPG. Just look at Companion Vilja (mod for Oblivion). You can build up a relationship with her and it works pretty well imo. Funnily enough she's the only character in the whole game I really feel connected to.

If I wanted a nagging wife, I'd get one in real life so I could at least mooch off her paycheck.

C'mon people, don't act like it's only exclusive only to Bioware game.

Arcanum did it right, and it wasn't really interrupting the game pace. :disguise:

Romance only occurs in Bioware games because they are central to the stories to a certain extent. They are things that they feel need to be added because of the emphasis on character companions. It wouldn't fit in elder scrolls, where the emphasis is on individuality, and wandering into the wide world. It just doesn't seem to fit.

Fallout executed love interests the right way for a Bethesda game, in that an NPC could have some specific dialogue options due to what you were like. It never engaged in a relationship with them, but allowed flirtatious dialogue.

It just doesn't sit right with me. I don't think I would be very inclined to keep going back to a certain town to see someone when there's so much to do elsewhere in Skyrim. It would be like Fable, where you start a relationship, not because of their individual traits, but because the NPC is just another generic person to start a relationship with. No relationships. Flirtatious comments and dialogue yes.

LOL@the poll options. I do like to have romance but I wouldn't expect the level of a Bioware game because it's easier when you have a story driven RPG which is naturally more linear. But of course romance would be a nice addition, anything is better than the tiny little hints that we had so far.

No. Romantic relationships in games always feel hollow and fake.

no never fable style more realistic to the times more like roman wives of old they stayed at home and was the leaders of the farms , ect,... till husband came back but never have to show up periodically to shower with gifts to keep em, and be cool if you stayed gone for long time came back found they had remarried lol

I can't see it being a priority for Bethesda
MW had a romance which was quite well done but the ending was a let down
I wouldn't object to it being done but if it isn't I'll be happy to see what modders come up with. After all it'd be a bit much to expect potential romances with partners of both sixes for all 10 races developed by Bethesda but I suspect in a year or so there will be that choice available from mods

heres an idea walk down the street and ask the cute girl who works at the coffee shop and ask for her number, take her out to a funny cute movie (I hear Rio is good) and start a real relationship

game relationships are a waste of time and a mockery of the real thing,

It all depends on how it is executed and how it feels , i don't like how it is executed on Fable/DA (it seeems more a marketing thing), on Mass Effect the flirt is soso, the rest was meh , on Baldurs Gate SoA i loved how it was executed ,of course that is a very old game and i have no idea how they could make that awesome romance feeling these days :turtle:

That's all I need. Come home from slaying dragons and saving the world and then I get yelled at for not picking up some milk and then I have to go to dinner at the inlaws.

No thanks.

Here's an idea: we could do the same with mining, hunting, fishing, blacksmithing, trading goods, persuading people, stealing, exploring caves, collecting things, reading books, buying houses, cooking, solving puzzles, riding, becoming professional associations' leaders in real life yet they are there in the game alongside more fantasy elements like dragons and magic. All those add to the immersion while romance breaks it?

Poll options assume everyone is either a guy into ladies or a lady into ladies.

I wouldn't mind it assuming it isn't the typical "let's cater to horny heterosixual males" baloney.

Please add a romantic relationship in Skyrim! If you want to make a living and natural world that without it no how! Look how many games already have a romantic relationship! Just to be able to go with the player character and a couple of phrases about love! Please! Please! Please! This is thread #2, other thread got to big. Discuss on!

It'd be pathetic to add romance to Skyrim. Maybe some between NPCs, but that's all. Other than that, let bioware do the job.

That's a game developer's core audience.

A stolen kiss along the roadside.
Delivering a love letter from a suitor to a beautiful lady and find them living happily later in the game.
Escorting a man to purchase a wife.
An inn keeper who seems to sleep with many patrons
...

Those are the romantic little novelties I enjoy in TES.

I've no desire to hire a prosttute, have a boyfriend, marry or have babies in this game.

Reminds me of the quest in Morrowind, on the way to Pelagiad, where the Breton woman was robbed by the Dark Elf, but she fell in love with him. She asks you to deliver her glove as a sign of endearment. And he, in turn, asks you to deliver a letter back to her. Touching moment.

All of those I listed were somewhere in MW or Oblivion. ;)
