Rope arrows

Post » Sat Oct 16, 2010 10:50 am

Well they are...

anyway since the game does not have "climbing" or levitating which is not a big deal, I would love to see rope arrows become a part of the world of Skyrim.

look at thief 1,2 and dark messiah, rope arrows worked in great ways and where not prone to abuse or over powered-ness.

What could rope arrows do:

1- they are fun of course.

2- Its easy to control where the player can or can't use them (only on wooden surfaces....etc)

3- Hundreds of extra dungeon and trap ideas, not to mention puzzle potential and secret loot :P.

4- A plus for Thief character types

5- lore friendly

6- Easy to implement (some what)

Being a Thief fan, I love me some rope arrows, but I think the world has to be designed with them in mind, and I really don't expect that Bethesda did this. Especially with the higher emphasis on environmental puzzles, our ability to vertically travserse the world will likely be fairly limited. No levitation, no climbing, etc. And if those are out, you can bet rope arrows are out as well.

....at least until someone mods them in :)

haha

oh well we can dream :P

I just want them so that some levels can be more interesting with scary deadly heights and some areas that can not be reached unless u make a rope highway (jump from one rope to the next)

Could work very well. Could always be a part of a DLC for Thief characters as well.

I would prefer things like this to be in the vanilla game, and climbing to some extent.

I recently saw a video of lycanthrope gameplay from Daggerfall, and the ability to scale the walls of buildings was quite impressive in that game. It could work for Skyrim as well, of course, in a limited fashion. Obviously no city wall climbing, sheer cliff climbing, or too much mountain climbing. But other than those types of restrictions, I think it could be very well implemented.

This. Cities should be open though, like Morrowind was or Oblivion with the Open Cities mod. Unless it causes FPS drops, then it's not really needed.

And by the way, do you mean a grapple hook?

lol, I posted this same thing like a day or two ago, It would work great, even cities walls just have to made out stone for them to have a logical reason for you not being able to climb over them.

The 5 major cites are closed off, the "towns" aren't.

Why yes I want to suspend my bodyweight on a thin piece of wood embedded in another piece of wood by a bow. /sarcasm

Idea is good and all but the execution is a bit silly.
