Routes

Will there be no route around the map untaken or will there be the one best route. What do you think?

Also would you just make your own route or just stick to the one everyone uses?

I think part of the fun will be finding your own routes and discoverig new ones. PLus with the different weight classes you will have to use routes in different ways and the fact that different routes could be more beneficial for a certain gun. So i pretty much think in Brink you should be careful no matter route you take :)

There are many routes throught the maps and you can go your own way with S.M.A.R.T.

I really like the thought of having and even making up your own routes. The different possibilities could be endless ^_^ I like how they've kinda incorporated Mirror's Edge into it :D It'll just be more awesome ;)

There will be many routes the only thing that limits you is your body type and use of SMART.

There will be standard routes which will allow you to get score some lotto-nade takedowns for sure.
But there will also be routes exclusively for light avatars, which will be much less frequented than others.

I would probably take a different route each time to confuse the enemies.

Darn- right
OT: to be honest it will make things interesting, eventually people will turn off the training wheels of S.M.A.R.T. and start falling to human falibility, because as we all know- the commute to the revolution wll be that much more fun when you get to wall run off pipes before droping into a firefight.

This, exactly. The guys at Splammage did actually say that they were suprised to find people using routes they never anticipated during tests and Beta. There's a lot of possibility.

That's what makes the SMART awesome as well as useful.

Frankly, I doubt there will be any such routes in the release-version.

At least I hope they don't run into this obvious exploit-trap with open eyes.

Having obscure routes for those who think outside of the box isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Having obscure routes which even the developers are not aware of is http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v716/zediker/Halgar_picture000.jpg.

The problem there is that they have found areas they werrn't supposed to ever get to, so there are no skins.

In Brink, every single object in the game is designed to work with SMART the way you would expect, so the players are free to find their own way around the map.

And because of the way the game only loads part of the map at a time for optimization, they wouldn't necessarily have to remove walls that you cant see to save memory, so there's less chance of issues like that screenshot.

Which technically would allow people to reach out of the map's boundaries.

I don't think that's the unexpected routes that they were talking about.

I think its more just they manage to get up to a ledge that they were expecting you to have to go another way to get to. Finding shortcuts through creative use of SMART more or less.

If people were really finding exploits and not just shortcuts, I don't think that they would be talking about it in a good light, or at all.

As far as glitching yes. No for adroit use of SMART.

Well, it's not really a glitch or an exploit. It's not outside the rules, so what's the issue?

That's a way to get to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4lby0SWWoQ (which was an "out of bounds"-area) in Age of Conan. (Similar exploits were possible in about every playfield.)

It's an exploit or glitch, if you're not supposed to do it.
