"Royal blood" and the Numidium

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 2:09 am

Okay so I've been thinking about a theory of mine, but to make it work I need to know :

What makes all the Kings in Daggerfall able to activate the numidium?In-game it says you are not able to use the Totem as you are "not of royal blood" yet what does that mean?Does it mean all the kings are descened from a god-blessed ancestor somehow?Does it mean the Aedra/Daedra have blessed these kings?Or is it due to their titles and their popularity, meaning anyone who is really Worshipped/Revered/Feared could have activated it?

That's an interesting point.

I'd argue that the Totem, as it taps directly into Walk-Brass, can only be used by kings because of the nature of their status alone. Think of the Amulet of Kings, the CHIM et-Adabal. It can only be used by those of royal blood. CHIM is, of course, the secret syllable of royalty and conquest.

It can only be used by those with the power of ruling. That is how I see it. Or those who rule. Or those destined to rule.
Just my little theory.

Wasn't one of the optional endings using the Numidium yourself (which ended with you crushed and Numidium stomping all over the Iliac), which would imply that you can use it? I'm pretty sure its just a gameplay thing to keep you from going off the dictated quest path.

Someone ought to make a flash game or something that has you play as Tiber Septim controlling the Numidium. It'd be like a side-scroller, stomping on elves in the Aldmeri Dominion, racking up points for combos to fill a metaphysicality meter. The final boss would be Ysmir or something.
