RPing as a CoW student?

Post » Thu Jul 10, 2014 3:53 pm

Hey guys, I've restarted my character and decided to go to the College of Winterhold first. As the game only treats it like a true college in the first two quests, I want to be able to RP as a student who's staying there for three in-game years.

It's already been a week and I'm stuck on what else can I do to make the RP more immersive and last longer. I have the PC version if it helps. I already have the following mods:

-Interesting NPCs give a few more quests and bonus conversations.

-Cutting Room Floor unlocks the previously cut quests.

-Aether Suite adds a very weird magical world which is very intriguing.

Any help would be appreciated on advice and additional mods I can use :)

You need to start a farm first.

3 in game years? Jeez that's a long stretch of time to fill. I've found that running errands for the different masters is fun for a bit. Finding lost books for Urag is my fav.

3 in game years is a long time. Sounds like a fun idea though . I'll have to try it some time when I'm not working for the Dark Brotherhood. I like murdering NPC's.

I know, right? I'm RPing a typical research student though, and not a typical undergrad who needs to go to lectures and classes. So she can go out exploring, as long as she can come back to the College every night to rest (possible with a Mark/Recall mod-added spell). But other than maybe rebuilding Winterhold via a mod and do the Azura quest, I'm kinda stuck on what else can a student do.

It's fun restricting yourself to a certain part of the map. Previously, it went boring because I fast travelled all over the map and I felt I did things way too quickly.

What kind of mage? Perhaps your school of choice could play into what activities you end up doing.

Thinking of taking up enchanting too? You could come up with a concept of collecting soul gems, and filling them, also Azura's star.

Maybe you try your hand at staff making as well down at the Atronach Forge?

The college could send you to check up on all the court wizards and see what you can learn from them/help them with.

And there's always Neloth ofcourse.

CoW, cow, as in the farm animal. It was very funny.

How about this: The "board of governors" at the COW have requested that you research and discover every enchantment in Skyrim. You must learn all enchantments and create items using them. To make this slightly more difficult they have also requested that the enchanted items you create must be made using either a grand/black soul gem to demonstrate the items full power.

I've used thishttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36849/?in the past and found it helpful in getting into being a student at the CoW from the start. If you have other mods that modify CoW or Winterhold it probably won't be compatible, but I thought I'd through it out there for you to try if you so desire. Cheers!
