RTS games..

There IS a Fallout RTS out there... But trust me. You don't want it. Thus why I shall not even mention its NAME, it is so terrible.

Regardless, pretty much everyone has said all the good RTS's out there by now... So I'd just be parroting what everyone else said. Consider most everything here as a +1 then. :P

If you mean Fallout Tactics, I think it's a fine game, though not true to canon, it's a lot of fun to play.

Now if you're talking about the OTHER one (it didn't really feel like an RTS to me), then yes, that is the game-that-must-not-be-named.

Age of Mythology, and the Titans expansion. The only RTS I played for more than 10 mintues without getting bored.

One of the best games ever, but the expansion was woefully imbalanced.

There's also:
Company of Heroes (As Yacoby and Melvar have said, probably the best out there)
Dawn of War + Expansions. Stay clear of DoW II though imo.
Age of Empires 3 + Expansions if you don't play story mode

Total Annihilation: This is what Supreme Commander tried and failed to be. IMO Best RTS ever made.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War + its expansions
Age of Empires
Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2
Black and White
Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth.
Battlezone
War Wind
Populous: The Begining

Company of Heroes is brilliant. Been playing it loads lately (both expansions). Ive always been a big fan of the first Dawn of War + expansions. Rome: Total War is great too, although ive never been good at it. I remember loving AoE 2 and AoM, but i haven't played either in ages.

Homeworld is by far my favourite RTS ever. That game is perfection.
As for suggestions, I haven't seen Sins of a Solar Empire mentioned yet.

The Civ series is the opposite of RTS, they are turn-based.

You mean Brotherhood of Steel? :spotted owl:

I'm actually playing AoE3 right now as seen microsoft where selling it off for 10p.

But I also recommed Company of Heroes, Total War series and Cossacks.

I loved Rise of Nations. I also liked Warcraft 3, Star Wars: Empire at War and Medieval Total War.

Sins of a Solar Empire. Just pure space RTS badassery. Unprecedented and still without an equal.
