I'm considering getting Real Time Settler Mod for my game. Is it safe for my save? Also I'd love to hear some other peoples opinions.

If oyu have alot of time its fun but jeez its time consuming, that and it replaces your saves with this annoying as crap Black/white save crap that takes 5 minutes to save your game. Worth it if you have the time/ want to continuesly save your game so you dont crash your comp.

You only have to load through the Black/White saves if you are building stuff.

It ruined my fav character, be careful, Its worth it, but BE CAREFUL!

best to start a different character or from an earlier save..

It is worth it. I am looking forward to the followup, Return of the Settler.

Bring up the console and type:
savegame "myPlayerNameBeforeRTS"

Now you can always return to how your player was before RTS, or any other mod for that matter.
