Ruined experience?

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 8:57 am

I find that FOOK2 really just ruined the experience of FO3 for me. DOn't get me wrong, its a great mod. But I dislike the "reality" aspect of it. I love real world weapons. But I find that they detract from the FO universe. As far as other aspects of FOOK2 like the ability to "breach" a lock with explosives I find that fun as hell.

Since installing FOOK2 on my game about 3 weeks ago I can honestly say I've played twice. I think this Christmas break I'll be uninstalling FOOK2.

Has anyone else had any similar experiences with any MODS, not necessarily with FOOK2 but with just any type of mod.

Well, I don't like the direction FOOK2 takes the game, but that's what modding is all about - personal choice.

This should be in the 'Fallout 3 Mods' Section.

Yeah, like I said, I only played twice since installing it. I too don't really care for it myself. Things I do like though are the fact I can find Backpacks to wear, and the ability to "breach" locks. I'll be DLing those mods seperately.

So far you've mentioned many things you like about FOOK2, and only dislike the "real world" weapons?

The types of weapons seems like a minor point to me

Agreed.

However, then I found FWE. It saved my Fallout 3 experience. No canon-murdering guns, well planned, almost no bugs.. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

I've only mentioned thigns that I remember or really stick out in my mind right now. Like I said, I played FOOK2 twice and only for a short time each play through.

I'll take a look at FWE and uninstall FOOK2.

I also put this in General Discussion because I asked if anyone else installed mods that they felt ruined the experience for them.

I love FOOK2. The only reason I would play the game would be because of FOOK. I may try FWE later, FOOK2 is perfect for me.

I just downloaded FWE The Wanderer's Edition. I think it may be geared toward my style of play. I find myself wandering around a lot without any real sense of direction or purpose. I've done absolutely nothing with the MQ, left Sticky at the door to Little Lamplight, I just meander around without having any idea what I'm going to do.

I haven't used any FOOKs. But I have recently started to use FWE and I really like it.

You might want to consider some of Kai's fixes and tweaks:

And of course there is the mod thread with useful info:

One note, a new character can die very fast due to the greatly increased weapon damage.

At first FWE seems pretty merciless. However, after two or so hours you'll get the grip of it. Just stick to bullet time and V.A.T.S. :)

When I get home I'll be installing them (works laptop FTW on the DL).

I already have Arwen's Leveling Fix, and a seperate "breach" mod. I'll let you know how I make out tonight.

Typically, threads like this fall into the "unconstructive" side of things. It seems a little cruel to post about disliking someone's mod - though I note you're polite about it and acknowledge it's a well-made mod, just not one you happen to like.

As another poster noted, which mods you use are up to you. I don't think it really serves any purpose to post about why you're not using someone else's hard work, freely given. It's OK if we don't all like the same mods - there are many very popular mods that I don't use, and many unpopular mods that I do. That's why there's such a wealth of choice out there - to customise the game to our own individual liking.

I'm going to lock this thread before it turns sour. I hope you enjoy the game more in the future.
