Well, thier is an effect but I doubt it is "supposed" to be thier. Its called a "script effect sound" and it is a pain in the butt. Duke Patricks mod silences many of them but does not seem to silence the one here in RTT. If this was designed in the mod, a script effect sound that crashes the game to desktop when I get on my horse and Ruin is not ready to then thier is a problem. Its quite unnerving. Most mods that has this problem could use Duke Patricks mod to silence the sound and effect but it is not helping here. Really hope thier is a fix for this soon as other companion mods that have the companion summon a horse (Ex. Sonia and Rhianna) dont have this issue.

What's happening here is a conflict with another mod causing the effects that RTT tries to produce to manifest as a "script effect bump" rather than their proper effects.

You can try moving it lower in the load order so that Ruined Tail's changes take precedence (so you don't get the script effect sound, and instead get the proper lightning sound effect), or, if you have some knowledge of the CS, you can open up the mod in the editor and comment out the part of the script that plays this effect when you get on your horse and Ruin is following you.

BOSS should place it correctly. I just looked at the mod, and it's using the default script effect, so a script effect silencer should prevent any "bumping" sounds if loaded in the correct order.

I was talking about the script effect "bump" sound he's having.

The crashing I have only seen when near the inn at the beginning. Once clear of that, the crashing goes away for me.


Of course, if it crashes for some people, and not others, then that would indicate a conflict of some sort. Ruined Tail's Tale is an extremely complex companion mod, with a lot of scripts running at any given time. The one time I had crashing problems with the mod it turned out to be a conflict with another mod. After narrowing down the conflict I was able to proceed by disabling the other mod. This conflict was in scripts, so it wasn't reported in any "conflict detecting" programs like TES4Edit or the like, since the problem was two scripts trying to do different things to the same actor, causing the game to crash.

Yea Im running the script silencer, loaded last, and BOSS and I still get the "boom boom shake" whenever I mount my horse while having Ruin as a companion. I have also gotten the "boom boom shake CTD" when I mount the horse and Ruin is not close to me or doing something else. I found waiting for him or going and finding him and making sure he is close to me before I mount up will keep me from getting the CTD. I have an extensive mod list including numerous quest mods and companions as well as FCOM so I will try to work it out again if I decide to play with Ruin again. For now I will just not have him around till this gets worked out...too bothersome.

(Edit) And just FYI the only mods I have that BOSS doesn't recognize are a few UFF clothing replacers, (DC) Wolfs Gate, (DC) Kvatch Watch Towers and Sher Ja lion companion. SOOooooo.....

Well one other suggestion would be to post your load order, also describe this 'boom shake' you're getting, does it sound like a normal lightning spell and blur your screen? If so, that's normal. I believe it uses default sound effects, so it might be affected by any sound effect replacers you have (such as atmospheric oblivion or some other sound mod that might replace the default lightning sound effects).

I'm a bit late to this, but...I loved RTT 2.5. I thought nothing could beat it, but 3.0 blew me away. Plenty of bugs squashed, more immersive story telling, etc. Even without voice acting, it has its own level of sheer awesome. I eagerly look forward to any new mods you make, whether remakes, expansions or new material!

The summon command doesn't work when Ruin's waiting, as it's more an emergency measure than an option of companion control. If you've lost him, I'll help you with some console commands. Otherwise I'd suggest you coming for him via normal means.


Mind sharing that info, cause I have that problem (Ruin is AWOL) and I can't find where he went..

Soo.. i'm having a little problem: when i

reach the dragon's inn, after conversing the conversations, i activate the bed, blur effect, door closes, message saying you are awoken by...
BAM, CTD even before i get the chance of clicking on the ok button of the message.
I'll be trying to narrow down who exactly is the culprit, it definitely doesn't happen with RTT only loaded so it's a mod conflict, but if anyone can spot any obvious offender, please let me know:

EDIT: It seems there's a little script conflict with Ren's Guard Overhaul, don't know why, don't know how.
Luckily, opening RGO's config and turning off RGO for the test fixed it.

Nevermind.

This is an absolutely great mod, one of the best I've played. I think I'll remember Ruin more then I'll remember the the vanilla characters. I can't wait to see it all come together with TOTF and Malevolent. Well, time to start The Legacy, well, I already started it but

Hi

I have a problem with this (awesomely creative) mod
I got stuck when ruin goes to sleep and tells me to do the same. When I activate my bed the game DRAMATYCALLY slows down (I usally get around 30-35 fps all maxed) and a dialogue appears. In that exact moment crashed out to my desktop.



any ideas ?

I recall it being where it is supposed to be and there being no problems before, but it had been a while and a few new mods and many updates to existing mods since my character was last in that town.

I've not yet torn my load order apart (nor looking forward to that for the 1 millionth time) nor did tes4edit show anything jumping out at me.

Recently I've noticed that the building added to Cheydinhaal is ... well kind of messed up: http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/psymon11b/zSS_5.jpg

I recall it being where it is supposed to be and there being no problems before, but it had been a while and a few new mods and many updates to existing mods since my character was last in that town.

I've not yet torn my load order apart (nor looking forward to that for the 1 millionth time) nor did tes4edit show anything jumping out at me.

so before I begin the labor of the load order and rebashing hell I thought I'd ask here for advice - maybe it is something I missed that was really apparent.


Pretty strange looking land tear, but that's what you've got. Something that's loading after RTT.esp is butchering the landscape in CheydinhalWorld. That shouldn't be overly difficult to track down.

Ok so of course this was going to be as difficult as I suspected.

I reduced my load order to this:

And of course the house remained twisted out of position and (it is as thought the house were turned 90 degrees and then shifted back 10 feet from where RTT wants it).

So it had nothing to do with later loading mods - nothing.

I then created a new character with that load order and the house is where it should be - so the issue is most likely where the door is registered in the save game or something.

Please anyone got suggestions.


[edit] AHH! Ah hah! A clean save of RTT resolved the issue.
I realized after posting the above that I had not actually started that quest, so a clean save would be harmless.

First of all i wish to say Ruin tail is probably the best companion mod out there and also a great quest mod. With that said like all great mods they have their occasional hiccups. Anyways i got this problem after the i visit the shadowscale stronghold the first time and pick up ruins heart and the mysterious letter im asked to go to shadowseeker hold in cheydinhal. However upon arriving to the house its completely empty. Tried turning off any and all other mods that conflicted and reload from before i enter the house. Yet the problem persists, i hope you may have a solution.

Is RTT going to have voice acting? I remember there were at least two people volunteering to become voice actors for it a couple of months ago, is there any progress?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Excellent work. I finally had some time again to play Oblivion and experience 3.00 and I must say it's a good improvement over the older version, be it design or story. Interior design improved massivly and this does wonders for the atmosphere, the story ending is very very neatly done. It's very believeable. It actually made me feel rather

Ruin and Missing-Tooth die,
, moreso than the older version atleast. Clearly, the mod feels and seems to be a lot more streamlined.

For me it always has been a tie between The Buther of Armindale and RTT, but I know what I prefer now! I may also give Malevolent a shot despite that the concept doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather not miss out on some more believeable dialogue with actual depth instead of the generic dialogues often found in other mods, not to say that these mods are bad.

You know I like your mods as I've stated this in an already burried thread, but I'd really like to emphasise it again!

Just finished RTT and I had a great time, thankyou for the great entertainment (and for free!)
Now that I have completed it, does anybody know if there is any risk of messing up my game by disabling the mod? I like to keep my mod list as short and organized as possible....

I know that I will lose related items such as

but I have already sold it all for gold. Will everything be ok if i just disable the mod now?

I've encountered a problem, if i save or fast travel after me and ruin escape from the inn, it crashes.

I downloaded this a little while ago and began playing, and ran into some problems at the inn during the introductory quest. I would crash immediately after waking up and seeing the quest dialogue. After some searching and despair, it turns out that, for some crazy reason, Realistic Fatigue v.2.4 was causing the crash. Deactivating it resulted in the scene playing out just fine. When I finally got all of that sorted out, I left the inn, and began getting crashes a couple of seconds after exiting. I managed to bypass these crashes without any visible problems by coc'ing to the nearby Wawnetinnexterior, but still very strange. I will report back if I experience anything else strange... and if nobody else gets this, at least it serves as good advertisemant for a great mod.
Edit: seems like people were getting the same issue with Ren's Guard Overhaul, but I kept that active and got through the sequence fine. Huh.

Hello! Very nice mod. Could someone tell me how to get Ruined back, I lost him while telling him to wait outside a dungeon, and when I returned, he was gone, I have no idea what could've happened. I'll appreciate if someone could tell me the console command to get him back.
