Run & Gun or Tactical Shoot-out

Post » Wed Aug 10, 2011 6:50 am

What do you do?

Personally I like to hide behind cover, crouch and fire but when I walk in the wilderness I care little for cover, but when i'm inside a small space I'm always looking for those dark nooks...

what about every1 else?

I shoot people while standing out in the open. I can kill them really fast.
I don't take cover, but I look around for more enemies, and I always check for enemies.

Run'n gun and occasionally (though more rarely than often) taking cover seems the most viable method. I'd really like if there was some characterskill based tactics forced on me.

I usually just stand there and shoot at them. Or coruch as that is what I chose. I rarely ever take cover, it just seems awkward to me. I don't really think it is a game that requires you to hide.

I usually only take cover in game such as Halo, CoD, and Battlefield, but that is typically when I play on legendary/veteran/hard.

It depends. If I am in power armor, I stand my ground, aim carefully, shoot, and advance.

If I'm in light armor, I crouch, hit from stealth and find cover if available. If no cover is available, I'll just crouch, take my time with the shots. If I am overwhelmed (increased wasteland spawn+a world of pain), I slowly back up and shoot more liberally but not carelessly. I like to hit my targets.

Oh and by the way, I only shoot from third person.

I play with the mindset of taking out the enemy, without taking ANY damage myself. I will get gung-ho at times but those are few and far between. It's all about tactics. I try to immerse myself in the male characters I create. Play them as if I were actually in there. I will spend an hour of realtime, observing from a distance. Doing the intel / recon. Plan an attack, set traps or just chip away at the numbers and slip in for an up close and personal assassination of the last one. I'm not into the speed-run and bang-bang playstyle, that comes from playing other shooters. I don't play them for that reason. I leave that market for the young crowd.

I'm a very passive player. I take my time, make every shot count and try to complete the game with no stims. I said try, that doesn't mean I don't. I usually end up with them totaling in the hundreds, at games end. I have never purchased a stimpack. With the exception of the vending mechs in DM.

My characters usually max out with half of the game left to play. At that point I experiment with different things and try to get ideas for what type of character I want to start for the next game. But for the most part, they always wind up much the same, from about level 10 on. I guess that's just the way I'm most comfortable playing.

I think I learned a lot from your reading your posts. I'm enjoying the game a lot more because I'm taking my time more with kills. Plan my attack and scout like you said. I remember your last post in the honest hearts topic.
You're hardcoe, man.

Depends on my character really, some characters I play the tactical sniper, others I charge in head first with a run and gun type playstyle. Though, in a lot of situations I find it's best to take a tactical approach and asses my enemies before I engage them.
