Run Speed

Post » Wed Jun 02, 2010 9:38 am

I haven't seen anything that gives an actual numerical value to this...so...

1. what does each point of agility add to run speed?

2. what is the default value?

3. does travel light make a significant impact?

4. what is needed to outrun cazadores, or even deathclaws?

3. I can answer on this one that it really does; there was a noticeable difference when I unloaded and ran for the Monorail.

The GECK. Haha.

I think the run multiplier is 4, whatever that means. Not sure about base walking speed, never looked.

I once altered a perk to increase my run multiplier by another 1.10, and that was quite noticeably faster. Not super speedy - I wasn't super-jogging around the land, but it pretty much negated the medium armor penalty and some of the heavy armor penalty perhaps. It was also enough to outrun everything, if you had some distance between. If you were close to stuff tho, you'd probably have to bump it up a little more to get away fast enough, w/deathclaws long reach.

Forgot...I think there's a Perk that increases the run speed by 10%, but only while wearing light/no armor. I've never taken it tho. (I actually like the default speeds).

The perk is very noticable when you have a lighter inventory Lady Crimson, 100 or more for a max limit of 210 is very fast.
If you got rid of most equipment and stuck to one handed weapons you should be a speedy bunny, Pack rat is 100% essential for this perk on HC or normal to work perfectly imo.

Agility doesn't influence running speed at all. Just holstering weapon and reload speed. No other speed.

It would be cool if agility makes you run faster, in the next patch.

Turbo spam + max run speed + chemist = FTW

I hear many, many people say this.

I did a character w/ 9 agility and was able to run from goodsprings to new vegas, outrunning cazadores and fire geckos.

My 4 agility character couldn't outrun a damn thing.

Am I just imaging my character being faster? Not being sarcastic, I actually could be imaging this.

Why would it only effect walking speed? Who the hell walks in this game?

Only time I walk is when I need to push companions out of my way, since doing it while running means I end up going past them rather than pushing them. :D
I'm not sure about the Agility...I haven't tested it, and I usually have 6-7 AGI or so to begin with. I don't think it's supposed to affect your run speed in NV...but haven't tested. All I know is being able to outrun things is largely dependent (in my game) on how much distance they have to cover to get to you in the first place. I can usually easily outrun chase-script distance if I see them first, which is 99% of the time. But if I round a rock thinking I'll find a bark scorpion and instead it's a giant rad-scorp suddenly in my face, I usually end up being unable to outrun.

My agility 6 character with Travel light run significantly faster than my agility 10 character, go figure.

I just got an odd idea... what if agility doesnt effect your runspeed but instead effects the runspeeds of everyone else? Maybe everyone else is a bit slower?

Here's what the official game guide says about Agility. See #3 for this topic.

Speed isn't something you can easily quantify, but agility has an effect on 3 different aspects of your speed:

1. Weapon Draw: The time it takes to grab a weapon from its holster and point it forwards.

2. Weapon Reload: The time it takes to shove in another clip or slug into a ranged weapon.

3. Minimum Run Speed: How quickly you traverse the landscape whether encumbered or not.

Official game guide also said perception affects accuracy.

1, 2) I have not found the exact number, but here is another player's experiment:

Test method was two level 1 characters, one with 10 agility, one with 1 agility.

I started in front of victors shack, and walked down the road, across the road, and into the white fence of the house.

I made sure to aim at the exact same location. I did not turn my character at all, but just held down W.

I use a stop watch and started as soon as i hit W, and stopped as soon as i hit the fence.

It took me 27.69 second with the 10 agility character, and 27.72 seconds with the 1 agility character. The discrepancy is easily explained by my hitting the stop watch at slightly different times.

If it was even a 5% difference we would see over a second difference.

I did the same test while in sneak mode also, with the same result.

You could of course, question on his real life reflect consistency, but what we can get an impression on the subject matter is that, the difference is not much.

3) 10% while you wear Light Armour, and to intemperate that into gameplay flow, it is significant, traveling the lands and in combat, finding covers, pulls back just a little bit so your sniper can land the bullets in V.A.T.S. should you need to.

4) I can't tell you, but: "when you are ready, you don't need to".
