Run MW with no sound card

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:21 pm

The sound card on my laptop is fried and I get an error when I try to run my game. How can I "turn off" sound so I can still run morrowind?

You may be able to force DirectX into using software sound, or use an old (ancient) version of MGE capable of disabling sound. I'm not sure if there are any simple, modern methods. If you can start the game and set the sound to software ingame, that might help (you may be able to tweak the registry to do the same without opening the game).

I've still been messing around with this and haven't figured it out yet. Where is directX located on the computer? I can't seem to find it.

Do you have any idea how I could tweak the registry to disable sound?
