Running Fallout 3 without the launcher

Post » Mon Sep 09, 2013 1:08 pm

I changed some settings in the Fallout3's .ini file to better optimize my performance and set it to ''Read Only'' just so the launcher doesn't edit it.

The problem is that it won't launch, everytime I press ''Play'', it re-opens the launcher stating it's going to adjust the settings to my hardware and sets my graphics to High. At no point does it launch the game.

I still remember this trick working as I've played numerous times before but I forgot how I fixed it.

Any luck?

-Thank you

You don't need to use the launcher at all, just boot the game using the Fallout.exe file instead. You won't even need to use the disc if you do it that way, you can boot right from your hard drive. And there's no need to make your ini file read only either.

Are you meaning play as in the Steam Interface. If so, just make a shortcut to Fallout3.exe or fose_loader.exe (if your using fose). Also you can add either of those to the Steam Library.

It forces the launcher to pop up even if I run Fallout.exe and I don't have fose_loader.exe (which could help).
