Running Skyrim on my PC

Post » Sun Jun 20, 2010 11:36 am

Right now you're probably saying, "wow another topic about this" while making this face -.- <--- annoyed face.

I UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED YET <--- not yelling just clarifying, thank you.

But I also have very little idea about the capabilities of a system. Now it's either I ask it now, or I ask it when the game is released.
So can someone please tell me if I'll be able to run Skyrim. please && thank you.

AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor
Ram 8.00gb
64bit windows 7 operating system
ATI 5570 HD Dx11

I just need to know so I can pre-order the game if I can't run it so well.

Sorry, didn't want to hunt around, although I'm sure I could have found it fairly easily. I'm a new player to forums actually. But I doubt that's a sufficient reason. But there you go, thats why

Skyrim is being developed to be able to run on a xbox 360. Really ANY computer less than 3 years old will be able to run Skyrim just fine. People seem to forget that the 360 is now over 5 years old. PC system requirements isn't really something to worry about until the next generation of consoles get released. Then you might have to consider it for a year or two while games scramble to take advantage of all the new power.

I think you will most definitely have to upgrade this video card.

This.

Last I heard, the game is going to pretty much look the same on all platforms, which means that it's going to be limited by the Xbox 360, which has the weakest hardware of the consoles. So something like 4GB DDR2, a 256MB GPU, and a dual core CPU are going to probably be the minimum specs. Recommended I'd assume something like 4GB DDR2/3, 512MB GPU and a quad core CPU. That's assuming that it's going to be the same as the Xbox version, which generally have lower res textures and stuff.

So, yeah, your machine is okay. I'd look into upgrading your CPU and GPU, though. If you're on a budget, I'd bet an ATI 5770 would do just fine for graphics, and AMD processors tend to go fairly cheap. An AMD Phenom II is what I'd shoot for if I were you.

No problem.

But yeah, at the very least upgrade your graphics card. And if you have the money, the processor too. Hell, if you have enough you might even consider a whole new box to get caught up with the latest tech, like DDR3 and the like. But that's not necessary by any means.
