Running4Cover's List of Stealth Mods

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:34 am

Thread necromancy? No, no. Omega Bumpage with a relevant contribution? Yeah, I think so.

Late to the party, but in answer to Deaths Grip's inquiry- Attack and Hide is still up at PES.

And I'd like to recommend these mods, which I did not see mentioned elsewhere in this thread:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22197 and her Dareloth's House upgrade mod, which is listed under the files for MTCThieves Grotto.

To quote her description from the details page:
This mod is designed to augment the Thieves Guild in Oblivion (or simply give more depth to the game) by adding new hidden communities of thieves, with new areas, stores, items, and quests. I try to keep most of the weapons and armour reasonably low-level, with some levelled items where I want exceptions, for anybody who is playing through from level one.

This mod more than merely augments the Thieves Guild- it adds a metric ton of very inspired lowerclass and scoundrel-friendly gritty/grungey atmosphere to the gameworld (that could be said for almost all of her mods, and indeed I do recommend them all). I've been using it since ver2, and would not dream of removing it. Some folks reported issues with ver 3, that I did not experience. However, ver 4 is up, and working great as far as I can tell. It expands and refines what came before, and even adds a brand new grimy little city across the waters from Anvil. For those who would like a more balanced and realistic representation of the various social classes in the gameworld, and who prefer their thieves to be rough and dirty around the edges instead of high concept uber-ninja-wannabes- look at these mods.

My pleasure, Mercer Meka. I hope Nernie's mods become as integral to your gameworld as they have become to mine. ^_^

It might sound strange, but I like using a good stealth-realism mod, even though I am a burly warrior. I just like to know that if I try to be stealthy, I won`t get away with it in Orc armour!

Too bad Thieves Grotto 4 has a minor, but weird looking landscape conflict with Feudal Empires and a major landscape conflict with UL - Colovian Highlands. :(

The conflict with Feudal Empires is not minor.

Didn't know about the UL one though.

Well, if you load FE last and disable 4 or 5 rocks, things will look a bit weird, but it's still playable since you can still access the house/cave from Thieves Grotto as well as the Black Blow Stronghold.
The UL condlict is worse since the Thieves Grotto mine entrance will be buried under or embedded in the rocks that the UL mod places there.

Well, thank you everyone for continuing to use this while I was absent (life's been crazy), and Self Promo is fine by me (I mark my own mods on this list with exclamation points, if that's not shameless I'm not sure what is :D). Anyways...

"Break Into the Arcane University" great idea!
Essential for Outlaw characters who don't belong to any official guild.

But...
Break Into the Arcane University
needs to be cleaned with TES4Edit (a lot of deleted references).

Tested "MTC Thieve's Grotto " but haven't liked it. It just adds a lot of buildings (enough for me) and you must be in the Thieves Guild.

Thank you, I thought it was an obvious idea when I first made it, and have wished that at the time of my making it I had more CS skills... that said, I may very well go back and clean this and some point, and make a Better Cities version as well.

Thank you, also, for testing the Thieve's Grotto; I will mark it as needing Thieve's Guild membership!

I'm using this one:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13651

I prefer it to Stealth Entrances. It add hidden entrances (but no tunnel) to Choroll, Anvil, Leawyiin, Bravil, Cheydinhall. Exceptions are:
- Imperial City (one can use vanilla sewers)
- Bruma (one can use Vanilla Bruma Caverns entrance)
- Skingrad (author says there no obvious location for a real hidden entrance because the City is too compact), but if you manage to enter the west gate (one can use chameleon potions in the night), the door is not guarded in the interior.

Edit.
This mod needs also to be TES4Edit cleaned.

(note: incompatable with OOO/FCOM)
TIE adds guards to to various indoor locations (stores and wealthy homeowners), secret entrances into cities, various new tools for thieves, and weight to lockpicks and torches. It also adds new travelling NPCs and merchants to the roads and cities.

Both Tamriel NPCs Revamped (TNR) and TIE have been moved to a http://www.dreamingthepyramid.net/TNR-home.html.

I tested most of "Black Market" mods found in TESNexus by most of them are disappointing in several points (bugs, unbalances, ...). For now "Tamriel Travelers" is the best concept that stand in this subject.

Wow, thank you for applying your time to this thread! I feel like I've neglected it too much of late :/ I'll be able to make the changes to TIE and add Aoshi's later today (I'm slightly rushed at the moment, but I'm not ignoring your posts :D). Thanks again!

No posts for the last two weeks

I've decided that I will bump this thread with some frequency, as the whole purpose of the list is to be seen. I'm amazed that I'm not recieving more submissions, as I take that to mean this list must be more thorough than I realized (thanks to all past contribution and contributors). Anyway, as always, if you think anything should be added to this list, or wish to discuss current stealth mods or what should be made, feel free to post here :-D
