Running4Cover's List of Stealth Mods

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:06 am

No posts for the last week

I've decided that I will bump this thread with some frequency, as the whole purpose of the list is to be seen. I'm amazed that I'm not receiving more submissions, as I take that to mean this list must be more thorough than I realized (thanks to all past contribution and contributors). Anyway, as always, if you think anything should be added to this list, or wish to discuss current stealth mods or what should be made, feel free to post here ;D

Note: I'm planning to finish alphabetizing the list and fix some Tweak/Miscellaneous sorting mixups in the near future, so hopefully the list will be easier on the eyes soon ;)

"Vampire Clan Raelu" links to ParasiteX's New Vampires.

On another note: Maybe you could try out some of the yellow marked mods some time, so that you can turn them into green or red ones (and maybe give more elaborate descriptions where it's possible).
I'm particularly disappointed that you still didn't give Better Gray Fox a try. :P

Haha, in all honesty as I already have OOO which includes Novierre's Grey Fox Armor, I never felt obligated to change the suit again :P Yours does look very good though, and were I to ever go on a testing spree I would certainly try it out. I'll fix the Raelu/StarX link problem ASAP. I have actually tried some (many) of the yellow mods, I just have either forgotten to mark them or failed in integrating them into a CTD-free setup, in which case it becomes difficult to endorse the file because I am unsure if it was part of the problem :P Unless I have used a mod extensively, I try to make its description something 1-2 lines long from the readme/mirror (to let the authors do their own descriptions), but I have considered expanding the size of the descriptions. Thanks for your input; I plan to spend some time improving this list before it hits thread #2 (in about 20 posts), so once I have some free time (after this Friday) I should be able to fix up a bunch of things that annoy me about this list ;)

...aaaand having said that I go and make changes to the list right now -_- I just gave the page the biggest revamping it's gotten since it's release, here is the changelog:

New opening paragraph.
All lists alphabetized.
Quest and Faction categories merged.
Overhauls category removed.
Houses category renamed Houses & Headquarters.
Buildings and Locations removed, mixed between Miscellaneous and Houses & Headquarters.
Category "The Big Two" created for RGO and Jog's Stealth Overhaul.
Tweaks and Miscellaneous categories resorted.
Vampire Overhauls category added.
Overhauls & Other Mods for Stealth Players category added.
Category descriptions added.
New mods added; primarily to Vampirism Overhauls and Overhauls & Other Mods for Stealth Players.
Vampire Clan Raelu link fixed.
Tags added to a few mods.
Other mods moved between categories as deemed appropriate.

Well, that was easier than expected :P

Yay for more structure in the list!
However, I just noticed that "Zumb's Lockpicking Mod" links to a thread on the official forums that doesn't exist anymore. :)

On another note, are you by any chance working on a mod related to lockpicking right now? Just saw your question in the "Quick Questions, Quick Answers" forum.
If you are, I'd be curious to know what you have in mind, because I'm working on one myself right now.

I was hoping to do a lockpicking overhaul kinda thing (separate types of locks, separate levels of picks, the ability to pry doors open, etc), but I am, at the moment, to busy to create it, and I have a few to many questions that still need answers concerning the implementation to consider it a definite project, so I totally wish you the best of luck with yours, and look forward to checking it out!

By the way, I'll see if I can fix the Zumb's link ;) I have a feeling the Nocturnal Anti-Torch link will be broken too, but I haven't taken the time to check :P

Thanks Mate!

Adds advantages and salaries to the Thieves' Guild based on rank

This one is buggy. As I've commented on Nexus:
WARNING: the creator of this mod hit the Compile All Scripts button before saving it, so *all* vanilla scripts have been recompiled and included in this mod, causing massive conflicts. Since it's based on the pre-SI version of Oblivion it even includes some of the old scripts that were updated when SI was released.
To fix this either use Wrye Bash's Decompile All function, or open it in TES4EDIT and Remove all Scripts, except for the new one added by the mod.

One mod that seems to be missing from your list is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4318
Makes looting jewelry boxes in houses more exciting.
Conflicts with OOO, since OOO edits the same containers.

EDIT:
More mods I feel should be on the list:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22819 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29692 Makes dungeons darker and easier to sneak in.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11169
A natural companion to Let there be Darkness!

Real Lights. Comes bundles with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305, but can be uses seperately.
Replaces the ambient fake lights with real lights and the combination of RL, Darkness and Actors is purrfect!

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11478
Combine this one with some Darker Nights mod (included in All Natural) for a good outdoors sneaking experience.

Fixed broken colour tags.
Fixed the link to Item Interchange

Just Added:
Dungeon Actors Have Torches to the Miscellaneous Section
Exterior Actors Have Torches to the Miscellaneous Section
Let There Be Darkness to the Miscellaneous Section

What do you think about this mod?

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31530

It's a new one that just got released. It corrects the problems that the older one had. I thought there was an issue with stealing items from a merchant chest in the first place though. According to the author of the new mod, the only issue was the unlocking of the chest would cause the merchant to be unable to access it again, which he solved.

Personally I'm using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3149.
It does a more thorough job than the new mod, and adds new keys to lots of merchants, which means it edits 27 NPCs which can lead to conflicts. But that can be easily avoided by loading it early, give it the Invent Tag and use Wrye Bash to make a Bashed Patch.

I seem to recall there being a problem with removing items from merchant chests but can't think of what it is. I think it was something about they wouldn't be able to sell or buy any thing once it was done. Was it imagined?

I don't recall this problem existing, and would lean towards thinking it doesn't in that I seem to recall looting chests from which merchants pull at other times without a problem, but I could be wrong. Anyway, thanks for the link ;)

Personally I have never seen or heard anything about this mod (prior to now, obviously). I found someone by the same name as that mod's author ("Opal-Eyed Fan") on both TESNexus and PES with accounts from '06 (so I would easily believe it's the same person), but he/she had no submissions on either site. That said, there were posts as recent as December, so you could perhaps try sending a message to this person and asking if it was ever uploaded elsewhere. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, and best of luck to you!

Adds the Woodland Rangers to Tamriel. They are a Faction dedicated to enforcing the wilderness and explore the deep depths of Tamriel. This includes 2 new armors, new sword, and unique creatures to the game. The Rangers have thier own Questline and are a joinable faction. You will protect Tamriel's forest and it's citizens from many different threats that somehow connect with each other. There are 7 Quests total right now more will come.
