Running4Cover's List of Stealth Mods

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:12 am

I have just updated the list. If anyone has any suggestions for mods that should be added, or things that should be done differently on the thread (or just wants to congratulate me on my magnificent work... just kidding :-P), please feel free to post (that is sort of the concept behind that mysterious device we now refer to as the "web-forum" :-0 ). Anyways, hope you guys like.

It's been a while since I've had a user submission (and I'm sure it's NOT because I have every stealth mod ever made on this list). I need submissions to keep this running, so please send me anything you think might belong on this list. Thanks all for the support, and I hope you guys continue to enjoy this :-D

I have another mod that you might want to consider adding to the list SM Combat Hide http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20303
This mod allows to more effectivly hide from npcs you are in combat with. If you stay out of visible sight from them long enough the npc will not be sure where you have gone and lose track of you. No more do npc's have homing beacons on your position.

Once the npc has lost you they will search the area for a while and if they come accross you they will instantly attack. After some time they will stop actively searching the area for you.

Very good, exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for the link ;-)

I just moved a couple links that were in the wrong sections (between Miscellaneous and Tweaks). I may take the time to sort the mods more properly in the near future. Also, I have begun to alphabetize the list, just completed the Armors/Weapons section.

To anyone who is aware of the misunderstanding (on my part) concerning this mod, I deeply and sincerely apologise.

To everyone else, you don't want to know (I could tell you, but then I'd have to KILL you :flamethrower: ) Also, as always, I need submissions to keep this at a decent position on the forums pages (thus making the information on this available to more people [thus making me famous, err!.. scratch that :-P]). So feel free to post gibberish on here (no, don't really, but post SOMETHING, I'm desperate [once again, I'm kidding {to a point}]). Anyway, update time!

I've decided that I will bump this with some frequency, as the whole purpose of the list is to be seen. I'm amazed that I'm not recieving more submissions, as I take that to mean this list must be more thorough than I realized (thanks to all past contribution and contributors). Anyway, as always, if you think anything should be added to this list, or wish to discuss current stealth mods or what should be made, feel free to post here :-D

Sidenote: Should I add my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20552 to this list because of the daggers/knives? I probably wouldn't (except because I made it :-D), but I thought I'd see if anyone thought it should be on this :-P

I'm kinda shocked that I didn't see http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1737 mod on the list. Special Abilities adds things for all types of characters, from Thieves(Thieves guild based abilities), to Mages(Mages Guild can grant you the ability to recharge items, and even without MG ranks there are spells you get that help in various ways{Exit comes to mind}). Assassins can get neat abilities that allow you to poison people in a AoE with some toxic powder, and arrow making(leveled arrows), and even fighters get neat gifts that stem off of modes they can get.
Best part is that you don't get anything unless you have enough skill and levels, so it's balanced in that regard.

Ah, very good, and addition (sweet!). I agree that it should be mentioned on this list ;-)

Also perfect for this list, it looks great (I should have looked through your other mods after I found Shadow Ranger), thanks ;-)

.....or what should be made.....

I think the sneaking system in Oblivion is rather badly implemented (I still love sneaking around caves and such, though). In real life, you don't have to be crouching to be not sneaking. Instead I think there should be different animations, like while walking against a wall you would press your body up against the wall and spread your arms across it, strafing sideways. When you are out in the middle of a hallway, you should walk sort of crouch (so crouching isn't totally far-fetched, but still) tip-toeing, or trying to muffle your footsteps. I think you shouldn't be able to disappear from your enemies after attacking them from right next to them. Also sometimes when you attack you get right up in front of them in a dark corner. I think that if you are infront of a person, even in pitch black, they would realize you were there. Feel free to add ideas and comments to what I proposed.

Kind of like some of these animations:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17125
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jkIZsQ1h0Q&feature=related -- Kind of overdoing it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQTtfFv0pP4&feature=related -- Again with the overdone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPPXd0uw5Gs&NR=1 -- I like this one, but the arms move too much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2hxXyV5DLk&feature=related -- Arms again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0og5HGQRnE0&feature=related -- Arms are relatively still, back goes way back.

I am in total agreement, a new (set of) sneak visual(s) should most certainly be made! If this could be implemented into a new stealth system (Stealth Overhaul OVERHAUL :-P), then something along these lines would thoroughly enhance the gameplay in Oblivion. I love the idea of the animation changing depending on your location (i.e. next to a wall), and it would be really cool if that could be further implemented (I suppose something like that would require OBSE). If the 5th animation ("3D Humanoid Sneak Walk") didn't lean back so much it would definately be my favorite (I do agree with your assessments of the animations otherwise, though). Now we need to find a scripter/animator to jump on this :-D

I always use Arcane Archery and I love it. It is a great mod and if you know what you are doing the author included instructions to make your own arrows as well. I have not had troubles with yet and I have been using it for 6+ months at least. It also levels with you as well in terms of the power of the arrows that are created.

I must admit I've never tried it, but as I just decided to make a brief stint away from Stealth characters, and try a mage, maybe now is a proper opportunity to test this!
