Runtime C++ error making game virtually unplayable

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 5:00 am

I bought Fallout NV a couple of days ago, thinking all those launch bugs would have been ironed out by now but apparently not. I haven't been able to run the game for any more than 30mins before it crashes to desktop with error message:

'Microsoft Visual C++ Library

Runtime Error!

The application has requested runtime to execute it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.'

My specs:

Windows7 64-bit
Phenom II 955 @ 3.7Ghz
HD 5850 (latest driver)

All other games I have been playing in the last year(Fable 3, DiRT 3, The Witcher 2, Assassins Creed 2......) have been running perfectly with most settings cranked all the way up, so I know this shouldn't be hardware related.

Just get a fresh copy of the correct Visual C++ Runtime from Microsoft, and install it, comparatively easy fix (although I cannot recall if it's the 2006 or the 2008 version). Anyone else here recall?

Spent hours ploughing through forums & couldn't find any solutions, but that seemed to do the trick. Just searched for newest runtime on microsoft website - cheers
