Russian Community wants full Russian localization

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:31 am

Dear Bethesda
Already a lot of people have expressed a desire for the complete translation of the game fallout 4 to Russian
Please think about it, get a partner for localization.
Without it loses a lot of impressions. Subtitles distracting when you want to dive into the game.
Not for the sake of advertising, but I want to say that the The Witcher 3, a super-duper localization.
Hopefully we will not leave without hearing a pleasant native language.
With Best Wishes
One of fallout fan from Russia/

True, I hadn't even thought about that.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything but subtitles, OP

Russian is a beautiful language. Same for a lot of other slavic languages.

I wish best of luck to you in getting it in your native tongue. Personally in these situations the dubbing always turns out bad IMO because they dont shell out that much money for good voice actors when doing localizations, but then the only non-anglosphere games I played was the Stalker series and I always modded it back to Russian since the english voice acting was just so bad. Bethesda has a lot more resources at their disposal than GSC did at the time, however.

Whatever other problems it had, I think Final Fantasy XIII had good voice acting overall (I'll even praise Vanille's given the arc for her character), but the real thing I liked about it was that the lip flaps were redone for the English dub. You don't see that too often.

OP: Not sure if anyone is getting a vocalized localization, but maybe there are things in the works. Did Skyrim support other languages beyond text?

Also, this talk of Russian makes me wonder if the Pip-Boy games include Tetris.

I think Beth games get a lot of localizations, not sure about Russian in particular. Im not sure if its Bethesda that does the new voice work since that'd be a lot, probably done by a external company.

Also I can totally see a Falloutverse Tetris filled to the brim with propaganda. It'd be beautiful.

Skyrim has a German voice localisation. I'm not sure about other languages.

Won't be fully localised, because no matter what the language is it will be set in Boston. Anywho, another reason why VA contributes to immersion breaking exprience.

Skyrim and Fallout 3 was a full Russian localization

In Fallout New Vegas was only subtitles, and it ruined half the fun of the game

The other Fallouts as well as TES 3-5 came in German. The voice acting was awful though. I switched to English as soon as I could or bought the english edition in the first place.

That would be nice.

Hearing the hero speak my language.

Yes, my country has one of the biggest Fallout fanbases in the world.

And we don't get a Russian spoken game ?

How is that political? From a pure socio-economic standpoint they don't have enough a middle class for full blown industry adoption. Its why there are foundations being built to support it but few have embraced it. Brazil is in a similar boat.

The 'you're not enough people to matter' argument doesn't really jive anymore though does it? LGBT? Not terribly numerous but it's being supported. Women who play games like Fallout? Growing, in part because they're being represented. Russia has a pop of 148 million people and Beth sells all over the world, if there are enough people who want it giving them a fully fledged localization might even increase the market. Fanservice has its merits. Maybe even enough merits to foot the bill for localization.

There is a population growth after 2013.

Plus not counting the 2 million crimeans that just joined us

PS:Russia is 9th on the list of the world population and we don't get a Russian spoken game ?

Go home Tumblr, you're drunk. Seriously. Especially when it comes down to economic factors. Further, you really need to check your facts about how women are growing in the gaming space. Here's a hint, Polygon is full of it.

Its not about population directly. Its about how much of that population can afford to pay.

That isn't my reading. That is the industry veterans reading. Hence why Russia gets so little support.

Yeah, but how many others are there like you? That is what they base these sorts of decisions on. Adding voice overs costs money, often quite a lot of it. If they aren't going to make that money back, or better yet, actually generate money, then its not worth the effort of doing it.
