Russian Roulette

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 2:08 pm

Hey, considering that it's Fallout New Vegas, where people gamble and stuff, knowing the Wasteland is a world of guns and death, is Russian Roulette going to be featured in the game? Gambling, plus a gun enriched area, would be to play Russian Roulette.

Anyone wondering why it's not in the game?

Because every housewife/person with no life whatsoever would complain that it is introducing Russian roulette as a viable source of getting money

I can't recall a single video game I've ever played where you got to play Russian Roulette. Online flash game, yeah. But I don't recall any developers of a actual video game using any development time towards it.

Not me.

I would think it would be because the only viable way to implement Russian Roulette into the game would be to make a loss instant death for your character. And then the game deletes all your saves for that character. And then the game tells you that playing Russian Roulette is stupid and you just found out why.

Killing, maiming, dismembering, decapitating, burning to a crisp, zapping someone into goo is not good enough? Now you want to randomly do this to your own character too? I am sure you can find some cliffs to jump off of for that.

Its not really a viable gambling game in a casino - the idea is to give your patrons a good enough time so they go get more money to give you. Dead people aren't good at giving dealers money.

Might be a small side quest 'revolving' around it.

Lets say your hired to rig a roulette match.

They give you a pistol and you have so many seconds to see where everyone is seated and what order their going in, you then load the rounds based on the info and sneak the new pistol in.

Various investors want certain people to die or live. You pick.

Probably because it would be boring... A total chance thing, more mundane than pulling a slot machine lever. After two or three deaths, it would get old.

How about Russian Ghoul-ette.... Yea punny ehh :/

You fire a revolver at a ghoul and whoever kills the ghoul wins?

Fair idea i suppose but the bets have to be high, and get bad karma for even playing

Play Russian Roulette with a fully loaded, clip fed semi-automatic pistol.

It would be too easy to earn money with Russian roulette since the maximum limit on the bet will be very high and you have a good chance of winning, so you have to reload less to make a profit.

We can stick to Russian Roulette. Maybe, in the game you get shot with rubber bullets. 2077 police probably having something way more safe, and effective than rubber bullets, and even if they don't you can be bound to find some laying around. New Vegas has a lot because they buy them, scavenge them, and loot gangsters to quench the thirst of their Rouletteurs. If you get the bullet, then you won't die, you just give the money you bet.

If that's the case, what's wrong with regular roulette? They actually already have that one in the game.

In New Vegas? We are discussing why it's not in there, and whether it should be.

If one puts it in the game I think it would be you betting on Random Person A and Random Person B on who chickens, dies or wins

It would be interesting to have in a game. Don't think it will be in a fallout game anytime soon. Self inflicted instant death would grow old. Easy way around it would be to safe before you play. Load when you die. It would become easily exploitable.

Would be good to see a special enounter of people playing it.
