Sabotaging an economy?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:59 am

Hey, has anyone found a way to sabotage a cities economy yet?

I remember Todd saying there were ways for the player to sabotage a cities economy and the game would react given the players actions. He said this while at the Riverwood Mill, though I don't know if he was speaking about that city specifically.

Without spoilers, are the simple quests to do this or was it something they left out?

First of all, we got a search bar.
Second, this is taken up all the time.
Thirdly, no. It was probably an axed feature or it's quest related somehow.

I personally haven't seen this... unless you kill a shop owner.

Kill every NPC in town and I'm pretty much sure the economy will go down.

No EVE players allowed!!

on topic, I think he was referring to sabotaging mills which are quasi interactive atm, you can look and activate them, but nothing happens, try putting a fork into it...

They must have axed the feature it has never been in. So if you kill a shopkeep will somebody take their place, or have they taken that out too. I have not tried it yet.

I've heard key NPCs cannot be killed.

Me too, but are shopkeepers considered key NPCs?

Well, I killed Lisbet at Arnleif and Sons in Markarth.

Spoiler

Well, I rampaged and killed everyone present at Namira's feast as I felt bad for eating that priest.
Just pretended they tranced me.

Sadly, Lisbet and several other shopkeepers of Markarth are present.

Buy everything and store it in your house...

Steal all things that are not yours... and keep them in your house...

Eat all the food... (Sims moment, they will all die of starvation! LOL, JK.)

Now place stolen goods into the store-owners pockets, and alert the authorities...

Repeat for all the citizens... It will be children-of-the-corn, like when a dragon wipes-out the entire town! (Kids have no economy.)

I imagine it relates to killing a specific amount of npcs (like all the workers at the riverwood mill, for instance) and then local merchants put their prices up.
I'm not sure.. for I haven't tested it out. But it seems quite possible. I know that when Ghorza gra-Bagol from Markarth was killed by forsworn,
her apprentice who took over had less gold to barter with than she did. I'm not sure if that is a sign of the economy being sabotaged in some way, but it's still interesting.

yah, there could be behind the scenes algorithms to figure out how much money shopkeepers have... quality of gear in their shop, etc

I know for a fact that if the Skyforge Armorer dies... it's permanent.

He can die during dragon attacks on Whiterun... I'm guessing due to his high position in the city... and he prolly shoots arrows at it like some damned hero.

Anyways, he's dead in my friends game and he can't buy Skyforge Steel or wolf armor anymore.
