A Sad Tale

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 11:21 pm

There I was, walking along the road southeast of Red Rocket gas station when I was jumped by three raiders. I dispatched them rather quickly with my mad rifle skills. I kept walking and just beyond where they sprang on me, I came across a fully loaded pack brahmin lying in the road. Just lying there not going anywhere. I figured he had belonged to the raiders. I thought it over and decided that the most humane thing for me to do would be to kill him quickly rather than let him be eaten alive by predators.

So I killed him.

The next day I walk into Sanctuary and there's Trashcan Carla. sixy sixy Trashcan Carla. But she is alone. She doesn't have her brahmin with her. I must have killed Carla's brahmin! Now every time I see Carla walking alone or every time I walk past that brahmin corpse, I am reminded and ashamed at my folly.

When I get a thousand caps together, I will throw them away, resurrect the brahmin, and rp that I bought Carla a new one.

What stories do you have?

When does the series "The Brahmin Whisperer" come out!!

Seriously I need a whisperer to come visit my game to stop these brahmin climbing my houses and playing mean tricks like forming a square around the old lady in Sanctuary while she's high on jet...

I don't want to put them down, please you are my last hope!

LOL I also had a Brahmin wander into my settlement yesterday. You know what, Wasteland Geo? I will GIVE you that Brahmin, if you can get it off the roof of my house. You can then give him to Sweet ol' Carla. :)

While you can't control/prevent it, if you build a ramp to the roof, they'll walk down - as long as the "connector" points of the ramp is even.

I set frag mines on the bridge to Sanctuary to protect against raiders, thinking they would only blow up my enemies ...

?

Spoiler
Carla's body is still lying there to remind me of my (wrong) assumptions.

I was on my way to completing the Lost Recon Team quest, and I was low on health and out of ammo for everything except for my Pipe Revolver - I'm on Survival Difficulty, so this kinda happens. I come across a Super Mutant holdout, and so I start fleeing from them. Of course, I run into a group of angry robots immediately afterwards, and have to flee even more - I can only hope the Super Mutants got destroyed by that Assaultron. I finally feel like I'm safe, then Bloatflies. No big deal, except for the Legendary Glowing Bloatfly that comes with them. I finally manage to make it to the Slog, and they help me take down the Bloatflies.

And you know what was on the Legendary Glowing Bloatfly? A Mighty Minigun. 25% more damage.

Saddest story I've had was the time some raiders were holding up some farmers on a bridge. I thought I could be the hero and pull one of those close call saves and kill the snipers. So I set it all up in VATS. I'd shoot the closer raider in the head, and then kill the further one with a few shots in the torso. I killed the first raider but the another farmer got in the way of my bullet to the other one and died instantly. The other farmer attacked me in rage. Everyone died that day.

My experience with Carla while trying to roleplay an evil character was the following. I found her on the road, robbed her and then I shot her in the face, right between the eyes, with my shotgun from point blank... 3 times, until she one hit me. The end.

Hmm ... you tried to rob someone named "Trashcan"? How did you think that would end well?

I have similar sad tale, although I instigated this one...

Walked through the wasteland south of Rocket and came across good 'ol Carla. I was given a couple speech options... one being to rob her (yellow), charisma perk ready.

(Now, I'm not one to be that guy and go around stealing everything I see or even being rude in my conversations. I like to RP and belive my character is sincere in his actions to find his son and help out where he can, when he can.)

I felt as though Carla was alone, except with her Brahmin, and was low on some supplies. I was also given a chance to gain some exp. by attempting a charisma speech choice.

So, I went for it! "Give me everything you've got, Carla!"

Failed attempt.

Carla will never EVER sell me anything anymore. I felt horrible and wanted to pretend like I was just joking.. but no option for that. I decided that because I was RP that I had to stick with my decision and come to terms that Carla will always hate me.

Now that Sanctuary is building strong and there are lots of resources.. guess who strolls on by? Carla and her Brahmin. I thought, "oh great, she's come to me due to my great efforts at rebuilding Sanctuary and will now sell me stuff."

Nope. Instead, she wanders around my town complainin and saying, "you'll have to kill me if you want anything from me!"

At first I was upset and thought she should just leave Santuraryif she didn't trust me. But she wouldn't leave and I had no speech options available. Anytime she was close to me, she would repeat herself.. "you'll have to kill me..."

I had enough... "FINE CARLA! I DON'T WANT TO BUT YOU KEEP PRESSING ME!

I then preceded to wacky her over the head with a tire iron, making her bleed to death. I let the Brahmin live as I felt he did nothing wrong. Carla is now laid to rest in Santurary as a reminder to everyone not to test my patience.

I am truly sorry Carla... but you asked for it.. again and again.
